In October 2012 I advertised on Craigslist for someone to
act as a translator for me during a trip I was planning to Colombia. I was contacted by a person identifying
himself as Oscar Sanchez, who said he could translate for me. Before I
traveled, Oscar asked if I could buy and bring with me to Colombia some
used cell phones, primarily
Iphones. He said he could sell
them in Colombia, and we would split the profits. I agreed, and began buying
some phones. I finally accumulated about 10 phones, which I took with me to
Colombia. I met Oscar and his wife Sandra Banol in Colombia, and turned over
the phones to him to sell. In mid December, after allegedly selling most of the
phones, rather than send me my promised share of the sale proceeds, Oscar asked
me if I wanted to invest with him in an apartment that was for sale. He claimed
he could buy it, then resell it for a profit in about 30 days. He said he only
had part of the money required for the purchase, and said I could invest
the rest, which mostly represented
the money I had due me from the phone sales. Well, to sum up, he never bought the apartment he said he
would buy, and I have seen none of my money Im owed. I am now convinced that
Oscar is nothing but a con man. And his wife is equally as rotten.
