Outback Roofing was called to repair my roof. Immediately they determined that a new roof was needed and stated that we will work on your behalf as "insurance specialists" to file my claim. After going on the roof and actually tearing off shingles, they placed two pieces of tarp on the roof. I called and email for the next week for them to come back out to repair the areas due to impending rain. I never got a return call or email. It rained and I now have brown leak spots on my ceiling. I had another company that came out and fixed the problem areas. I then emailed Outback to tell them that I was terminating them and got a bill for $800 for two pieces of tarp on 4/20/09. I explained that was ridiculous and continually received harrasing calls from Chris Cutcher and Eddie Paschall. I then received a letter(4/22/09) that the company was going to place a lien on my home only two days after receiving the invoice. This company is awful and is totally out to rip off the consumer. I had already made arrangements with bill pay for the payment to be mailed on 4/27/09. They didn't even give me time to get the payment to them.

#3REBUTTAL Owner of company

Sun, May 03, 2009

The Story is false and has no merit. My company was contacted by a Mr Andre to perform contractor services at their house in Plano, Texas. They Have a roof that was installed improperly, and have had numerous shingles that have continually blown off from storms over the last couple of years. When contacted by them we told them that we were unwilling to make repairs to their roof due to the fact that they have sustained over 30% Shingle loss and the tabs on there shingles were broken. Their roof was installed using staples. We told them my company was not willing to make a repair on the roof and recommended they contact their insurance company and file a claim. They asked us if we would do a temporary blue tarp installation on their home. We did just that. The wind was blowing over 40 MPH and we installed 3 tarps not 2, on a 2 story 9-10 pitch roof. the insurance company and my represenative agreed the roof needed to be replaced. The Homeowner received a full roof replacement from the insurance company according to the insurance adjuster.

Mr Andre then decided he would pocket the insurance money and then asked us to give him a bid on repairing his roof. When we told him we were unwilling to make repairs due to the severity of the damage to his roof, he then said he wanted to terminate us as the contractor for his roofing job. We had no problem with that. We just want to be paid on the work we performed on his property. He insisted on trying to negotiate our price after we agreed on the costs. We billed him exactly what the insurance companys will pay no more no less, The very next day Mr Andre had someone repair his roof.

I drove by and noticed the very next day that he put the house on the market to sell. I sure hope whomever buys the house contacts me so they can sue them for not disclosing the severity of the damage on the roof. Mr Andre is trying to hide the damage and Pocket the Insurance companys money and at the same time steal from my company. Theft of services is being filed with the Collin County Courts this week. We have already filed a lien against him and will seek further charges against him. We bellieve he is a habitual offender who takes advantage of contractors and probaly has a pattern of not paying his bills. I look forward to handling this matter in any legal forum and know that this matter will be sided on my companys behalf. The attempt to discredit my companys integrity will not be blemished. I want to personally thank the 622 satisfied clients that we have serviced over the years and look forward to continue to provide great service and professionalism.
