I was going to adopt a dog from this group, when we backed out of the adoption, they refused to return our money.
They did not meet the standard that a good, reputable rescue group would for the care of the dogs.
This is not a group that really cares about the well being of the animals and should be avoided.

We are a legitamate local non profit animal rescue that has a very good relationship with our adopters. Our adoption fee helps cover the spay/neuter, heartworm prevention, flea/tick control, wormer, vaccines, and we provide obedience training and love and care to every rescue we take in. Located by Lake Wapeppello, you can visit our website at http://www.theothersideofthefence.org.

Jodi, the lady who claims we did not refund her money has wrongfully lied about our organization. I refunded all but $4.00 of her adoption fee, which I kept for the absolute HASSLE this lady was!

We do not transport animals! Adopters come to us to pick up their new pets. Jodi, however just got out of the hospital for surgery and we mentioned a private individual who may be willing to drive 13 hours to deliver Baby Huey, a Mastiff puppy. After talking with the individual and Jodi, they both agreed of the transport, which was all but $100.00 was paid BEFORE the transport left.

The private transport had to get his transport bus which had been sitting around for quite sometime tuned up and filled with gas. It cost more to tune up a transport bus than a noremal vehichle. Every thing was set up for departure at 7am for DAYS.

At 6:55 am Jodi calls and says she changed her mind---SHE DID NOT WANT THE DOG ANYMORE!!!

The private transport spent most of the money for the transport that HE WOULD NOT HAVE if not for Jodi having requested he drive the dog to her!!! The private transport refused to refund money, which inmy opinion was his decision. If you cancel a plane or bus trip 5 minutes before departure YOU DO NOT GET A REFUND!!!

Out of my OWN pocket I refunded a portion of the transport money, which I did not have to do!

A lesson learned---We do not try and help people get their animals---If you want a dog or cat---COME TO US!!!!!

On top of animal adoptions we several free workshops including our creature teacher workshop. Depending on their reading level this workshop provides children with the opportunity to listen and interact with a story or read aloud to animals, helping to improve a child's reading skills and self confidence. Reading improves language and learning abilities and provides opportunities for physical development and a future love of books. The simple act of turning the pages of a book helps to strengthen motor skills. Reading is important to a child's development and is a big factor in shaping their education. It also stimulates eye muscles and affects chemistry of the body by utilizing the brain. This workshop benefits children and the rescue animals alike.

Why did you back out of the adoption?

You claim you backed out of the agreement, so expecting the money back would not be reasonable. If they did not meet your standards, this should have been known to you BEFORE handing them money and making an agreement.

As far as your other statements, what exactly is it that you believe is substandard? What are their procedures or protocals that are less than is expected, in general, or by you, of a rescue? What is it you believe they do wrong exactly? Details please. *just my opinions*
