Long story shorter.... I co-signed for my sister's car because no one in my family had good credit and we were in dire straights, I did what any sister would do for a family they loved and helped them out.  My sister ended up moving from NY to California where I reside about a year and 1/2 later.  We purchased GAP insurance when we financed the car at Sunmark Federal Credit Union, and she was paying on time every month until she moved to CA.  Sunmark would not accept credit card information over the phone, and her starting up in a new city with a new bank, it takes time for checks to come in mail.

Needless to say her payment was late that month, and then again the month after, we paid but it was so hard to get a payment to them, then a few months later someone while she was working downtown sideswiped her car and totalled it.  We thought the GAP insurance would cover the $900 difference, but no no no we were mistaken.  Apparently because there were multiple late payments the GAP was considered null and void.  Then Sunmark gave the case to these souless people.

They sent me a letter on how much we owed and we, still unawrare the GAP wasn't applied at all, ignored the letter.  They called my sister but apparently she didnt answer.  Then they started calling me.  Now when I answer I try to figure out what is going on and why this is happening.  They had no words, said they are just debt collectors, collecting a debt.  Now I'm all about paying off my debts and keeping my credit high, but these people were horrible! Attitude right away from Wendy, who wanted to know when I could pay the bill.  I told her when I figure out why Im being sued and why GAP insurance didn't work I will give you a call back.  I was contacted again the next day.  Thankfully I talked to insurance company by then and they explained the whole being late on payments gig, ugh, so frusterating, but I accepted it and called them back.

I talked to actually a nice lady this time and explained my dilemma, that I was only trying to help my family out and do good, and have to suffer.  I offered the most I could at the time which was $75 a month, which she said would be fine with a .16 cents/day diem.  Fine, 2 months of $75 payments go by and they are still calling my sister, and then they sent an official letter to my mom's house in NY saying they are taking my sister to court.  Now... if I had an agreement with them, and have been paying off the $900 debt that was totally unexplected, would they still be suing us?

The answer is they don't give a crap about my financial hardship or my family's they are continuing to sue us even though we are trying our best to pay it off.  I don't have $900 in savings! So i made 3 more payments of $100 just to start chipping away at it and about a year later I recieve calls and messages from them again saying they want to know when I can pay them.  Mind you I recieved one letter with how much I owed after a few payments and not another one since.  So I call and ask how much is left thinking a little over $400 was left, she says rudely and snotty, "oh no its over $800", with which I replied "absolutely not!"

She also was getting mean and nasty with me when I tried to find out why why why it's so high! She disconnected the call after I got upset and hung up.  I called back again with an attitude from the desk clerk or whatever misery they have answering the phones there, and she said there was a judgement placed against the account in December of last year and it is now $800+ again.  I was livid and requested why and what judgemen,t and she rudely said "I cann't discuss this with you since you are not the primary name on account".

So let me get this straight you want me to pay for something you are refusing to tell me about, and she relied wih "I don' t know what to tell you", so frusterating, my sister called the next day and said because we did not pay it in full by December 2012 they added $400 in interest, Even thoough I was paying it!! Makes no sense, and to boot they are Awful at customer service there.  Afwul Awful Company filled with souless, greedy, miserable people.
