I pulled my credit report and found an entry for $75.00 being reported by Overton, Russell, Doerr, and Donovan. I contacted them via certified mail indicating I am willing to pay the ENTIRE amount of the claim, in return for doing so and not contesting the claim I requested that they delete the entry from my credit report. I asked that they make any communication via mail. After not hearing from them for 10 days, I called the agency to check the status. I was put on the line with an obnoxiously rude woman, who informed me that the reason I had received no correspondence was because I gave no contact phone number in my letter. I specifically stated that they correspond with my through the mail

The woman informed me that they would be gladly accept my full payment, but would not have the information "deleted" from my credit report. They would only submit to the reporting that the debt was "paid in full"

Needless to say, I will be contacting Mr. Brian Strohl directly!

So where's the ripoff?

Well, this isn't really a ripoff, is it? It would certainly be nice of them to remove the derogatory remark from your credit report. But they aren't required to do so, they have good reasons for not wanting to do so, and it's not exactly reasonable for you to expect that they will do so and complain when they refuse.
