Oxford Finincial ripoff, credit card scam, fraud, call center New York
I was called by a female and told I had been approved for a credit card, I said I dont recall applying for a credit card until she said "it was online back in march" in which case yes I did back in march, she told me the credit limit would be 2000.00 and that there was a $249.00 security deposit to ensure the card was paid if I were to default on the payments.
I have never had a credit card and this was the first time anyone had told me I was approved, so it sounded like a good deal because i was trying to build my credit back up. I gave her all my information and #SSN (which bothers me but I dont think it will do them anymore good then it will do me)
I was then transfered to a male who said my information would be verified and recorded and was told it would be approx.25 days from the date of payment to them that I would receive my card, 25 days passed I called the number on my bank statement they said 40 days, ok 45 days passed I called the call center again, I was told it was in the mail.
I checked online for a company address and found this website. I called the call center back told them this was a scam and the lady (Sue) acted shocked, I asked her for all the info on this comapny and their companys info so I could go to the police she got very rude and became uncooperative. I filed a police report on both companies, my credit union returned my money and is investigating. If anymore can be done to these people I would like in on it.
