Oxmoor House ripoff I don't know if they have a serious computer invoicing system or they are trying to make me send as many cheques to them Tampa Florida

I order a book from Oxmoor House in February, they send the book to me along with an invoice of $36.25, I send them a cheque (CHQ# 35) along with the bottom portion of the invoice on March 9, 2004 before due date. Than I received a 2nd invoice again on April 26, 2004, saying they did not receive my payment for the cheque that I send, which I checked my bank account that Oxmoor House never make the transition at all. Then come the 3rd warning notice with invoice indicated my account was seriously past due and I must make the payment by June 11, 2004. Therefore I kindly send them another cheque (CHQ # 36) on June 8, 2004, since they never make any transaction on my last cheque.

Then come the 4th warning on June 21, again saying they never receive my payment and they will forward my account to a national collection agency if payment not make before July 9, 2004. I checked my bank account again whether they make any transaction on my CHQ # 35 and CHQ #36, and the result was no transaction at all.

I don't know if they have a serious computer invoicing system or they are trying to make me send as many cheques to them and try to threaten me for not making any payment for fun.

Stolen Checks?

#2Consumer Suggestion

Wed, July 07, 2004

I recommend you send them the next check certified mail, return receipt requested. At the same time, write to the District Attorney's office covering Tampa, Florida, list the checks that you sent, Check Nos, amounts, dates and advise them that these checks appear to have been stolen and you want them to investigate.

You will also want to contact the Post Office that covers Tampa Florida. Advise them that the checks have been stolen. Make sure that Oxmoor House receives copies of the letters you have sent to the Postal Service and the DA's office. If at all possible, stop payment through your bank on the checks they are claiming as "lost".

If necessary, and this is a real pain, close your bank account and open a new one in another bank. Keep copies of everything in case Oxmoor tries to report you as having bad credit.
