After receiving an in home estimate from Ron Ratovitz (account executive and part owner of Pacific Coast Van Lines) I hired the company to move my belongings from Malibu,Ca. to Florence,Oregon.

Ron estimated the total weight to be around 2000 lbs. and showed me photos of other moves his company had done along with several pages of personal recommendations and glowing reports from satisfied customers.

I was guaranteed in writing a 3-5 day express delivery and the move was scheduled for the 25th of June 2002.When the movers arrived I was informed that using a credit card would involve a 3% surcharge (this was not mentioned at the time of the estimate) I had no other option at this point since personal checks were not accepted.

The moving crew told me that when they finished loading they were driving directly to Oregon and would make delivery within two days.

I drove to Oregon as soon as the moving van left and when I arrived on the 26th,I called Pacific Coast van Lines to find out when my belongings would be delivered and was told that due to another customer they couldn't deliver as scheduled.

My 3-5 day express delivery took two weeks.....the 2000lb. estimate turned out to be 3200 lbs....every piece of furniture that was packed or wrapped by Pacific Coast Van Lines was damaged (stained glass tiffany style lamp shade was cracked....antique oak table..gouged...leather sofa ripped etc.)

When I called the company to report the damage(expecting at least some insurance coverage) they requested photos and repair estimates which I sent via certified mail in July.

After waiting a whole month I again called the company and was told that Pacific Coast Van Lines was no longer in business and that I would not receive any insurance reimbursement.

Long story short...my 3-5 day express delivery took two weeks.....2000 lb. estimate was off by 1200 lbs.....The moving crew that wrapped the furniture and loaded the truck was completely incompetent......the insurance didn't cover any of the damage that was sustained!!!

I suspect that the glowing recommendations I was shown were written by Pacific Coast Van Lines
