Pacific Digital Is a Total Rip-off *Consumer Suggestion
I bought a Pacific Digital CD-RW (16x10x40) back in November of 2001 and had to wait until I could get a friend to install it for me because I am missing most of my fingers.
After installation I tried to burn an audio CD but after burning the CD only a few seconds of the first track would play and then nothing!
I sent Pacific Digital an email explaining the situation but got no response. After waiting a couple of days I called their phone number and got a message machine that directed me to leave my phone number and that they would call back.
They called back two days later in the morning while I was at work and said to call back. I called back and again got their message machine. This time I got in touch with their phone operator and after being disconnected from the number that I was transferred to, I called the operator back and she had to walk a message back to the tech support area.
Finally, they contacted me and after trouble-shooting the device with me, determined that the drive was defective. I was asked to fax my store receipt to them, which I did. They called me back a day later again while I was at work.
When I got in touch with them again I had to go through the same difficulty in reaching them. After a discussion with their Tech support supervisor I was to mail the device back to them at my cost for a replacement.
The supervisor was going to email me the return authorization number with return instructions. That was 2 weeks ago and as of 01/01/2002 I still have not received anything from them.
THEIR CUSTOMER SUPPORT SUCKS!!! DO NOT BUY THEIR PRODUCTS UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE DISAPPOINTED THE WAY I AM.

They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report:
Their email: wmrbreeden@yahoo.com
Their name: Bill B.
Their relationship to the company: Consumer Suggestion
Rebuttal:
This happened to me. A CD-RW drive needs data sent to it fast enough to burn a playable CD. Try burning a CD at a slower speed, say 2X or 4X. This worked for me. I found that to use 8X or 16X I needed a faster processor in the PC.
Hope this helps.
