Paddington Web Media is a horrible company.

I am writing this because we lost allot of time and Money with this bunch. This review is long overdue. I gave Tom and Brandon and his Wife Lindsay as well as this Guy Michel the benefit of the doubt one too many time. I am now convinced that these guys have no clue of what they are doing. They claim that they do web design and online marketing, but in fact they are very inexperienced. I have never written a report before or complained about any company.

We hired them to help us build a website from a template that we had provided them in order to save some money. They never got this done and told us next tomorrow from November of 2010 to January 15 2011 when they demanded money be wired and quit. They did a very sloppy job and did not Finish but wanted all the money and fix the site later as we could not even use it. We really wanted the site up for our busy season. Then after waiting 6 extra weeks they told us with a non working program to wire more money and the Threats about Lawyers and everything was scary and then they quit. They are a bunch of phonies who have no clue about website design and Data or SEOs. After missing all the crucial time for serious Customers and to make some serious money this past Year, I am writing this review to warn anyone to NOT USE PADDINGTON MEDIA. They will now call me and send bad email and lie and say they are done and threaten me and my staff as they do to most. They will promise you the moon and never finish anything of complication as they cant do it. Keep looking you can find and deserve better. The other complaints are right on at this site about them. I have never talked to the others but I would like to say I had the same experience even worse. They owe us Money and we have not a thing to show but threats and a hard way to go.If they did this to you Please help and respond so we can stop this. This was the biggest mistake I ever Made do not let this Happen to you. All my Family wanted was to start a business.

Please find below the response from Paddington Web Design, LLC regarding the dispute filed on RipOffReport.com

Paddington Media has built a solid relationship with our customers.

We've always worked hard for our clients' behalf. We consider the Original report to be an attack on our reputation & credibility. Although there was massive project-creep with this client we did everything that was asked only to receive the aforementioned complaint.

Paddington Web Design LLC (DBA Paddington Media) was hired by Delmarva Rentals and Mr. Jay Kalin on August 25, 2010 to be one of three contractors for a website project titled RentMyVacationHome.com. The original contract was signed by both parties. Paddington Media was paid a deposit. The remainder of the balance was to be paid upon completion of the contract.

Work on this project began immediately with an expected project finish date of November 23, 2010. However, as we have been in the website design business for 7 years, we know that these projects are very commonly delayed by factors outside of our control. Therefore, as always, our contract stated that this finish date was contingent on Paddington Media receiving all necessary components on time. The timeline for the project as stated in the contract is as follows:

Phase One
9/11/2010 - Client sends PM graphical images & text needed for the website template
9/13/2010 - PM begins coding graphical markup of website template
10/11/2010 - PM completes XHTML template components
Phase Two
10/25/2010 - PM creates all pages of the website template
Phase Three
10/28/2010 - Client reviews and approves website template for publication
11/01/2010 - PM publishes website with new template.

A website of this magnitude requires much testing before the hard launch of the website; the testing is to ensure that all components of the website work as they were intended. In order for a hard launch date of November 23, the timeline above needed to be followed. This did not happen. For example, the first item in Phase One Graphical Images & Text for Templates did not start coming to Paddington Media until October. Therefore, the project was almost immediately behind schedule.

In early November, one of the other two contractors on this project was becoming a concern due to their lack of willingness to adhere to privacy issues. That contractor was released and Paddington Media was hired to do additional work on this project and an addendum for this work was added to the original contract (the Addendum signed by both parties is attached). Despite the additional work, and the fact that the project was already a month behind, the launch date was not changed.

Throughout the entire period of the project, Paddington Media was in contact with Mr. Jay Kalin of Delmarva rentals on an almost daily basis, giving him updates and sending links for him to approve work that had been completed. Mr. Kalin was thoroughly satisfied with the work that had been completed, stating numerous times that he was very happy with his decision to hire Paddington Media.

In mid to late November, it became apparent that the hard launch date would not be met due to the delay in receiving the necessary templates to create the website. This delay was not caused by Paddington Media as we were not hired to do or involved in the design of the site a highly respected design firm from New York City was in charge of the design. This company was superb, however, they were not allowed to send us the templates we needed until the were officially approved by Mr. Jay Kalin. Because of the numerous edits and changes to the templates by Mr. Kalin, we did not begin receiving templates until the end of October and we were still receiving the templates well past November 23rd (in fact, we were still receiving templates in January of 2011).

In late November/early December, Paddington Medias founder and CTO, Brandon Burris was informed by Mr. Jay Kalin that the payment for the remainder of the contract (now $12,950 due to the additional work agreed to in the addendum) was being held in escrow by Mr. Kalins investors. This was the first time that Paddington Media was informed of the investors into this project who would be the source of our payment, not Mr. Kalin as was laid out in the contract. Also at this time, Paddington Media was informed by Mr. Kalin that the investors who held the money had certain expectations of one of the components that Paddington Media built for this website. The contract specified at least 3,000 listings that were needed for a particular section, which Paddington Media had done. However, Mr. Kalin informed us that if we wanted to be paid, we had to meet his investors expectations of at least 70,000 listings 23 times the original amount. This huge discrepancy was a concern as it would add significantly more time onto the already delayed project, in addition to the fact that it violated the contract signed by Mr. Kalin. Further, the addendum to the contract that was added after the start of the project specified 12 feeder websites that Paddington Media needed to set up to link to the main website. Mr. Kalin informed Paddington Media that instead of the 12 websites listed in the contract, Paddington Media would have to do another 20 websites, for a total of 32 websites.

Brandon Burris confronted Mr. Kalin regarding this and Mr. Kalin confessed that he had misled his investors to believe that we had agreed to the investors terms, despite Mr. Kalin never asking Paddington Media about the terms. Mr. Kalin then informed Paddington Media that the only we were would be paid for all of our work was if we agreed to follow the terms of the investors. Brandon Burris told Mr. Kalin that, despite the blackmail and extortion, Brandon would try, but would not guarantee that we would meet the terms.

For the next 6 weeks, Paddington Media was continually berated by Mr. Kalin for delaying the project, receiving almost daily emails full of insults to the company and the massive amount of work that had been completed. Despite this, Paddington Media was committed to finishing the project. Weekly teleconferences with Mr. Kalin were conducted, and in a teleconference on December 24th, Mr. Kalin confirmed that the project was 98% complete. Upon completion of the initial contract (not the addendum) in the second week of January 2011, Paddington Media, worried about the additional cost the company was absorbing by trying to comply with the terms of the investors, informed Mr. Kalin that no more work would be completed until we were paid for the amount in the initial contract.

Paddington Media will provide, upon request, evidence of any and all of the statements above if needed.

We thank you in advance for your help on this matter,
Brandon Burris, CTO
