A bogus item in my credit report from Experian cost me thousands of dollars on high interest loans, home loan, new carpte, etc.

When my loan agent sent me a copy of my credit report, I noticed that I had a collection entry under a name, SSN, phone number, that was not mine. I did not have the time to clean this item from my credit since I needed to get a house this past summer (2003) so my kids could start school on time.

In November, I finally go to the task of cleaning my credit report. I sent a request to Experian to clear my record of the bogus information. The reply stated that they deleted the bogus name, address, and SSN from my records. But the collection item could not be deleted since it was verified, I guess by Palisade?

I got really pissed. I called Palisades and they told me that the item was reported by AT&T, and that I needed to talk to them to fix this problem. I do not have AT&T and have never had them.

So I called AT&T, and after an obscene number of run-arounds, I was told that I needed to talk to Palisades and asked them for a 13 number account number. I did. Then, I called AT&T, and again, after talking to a number of folks, I was finally told the account information I was looking for.

All the information belongs to a different person. Same name, diferent middle name, same last name, different address, different SSN, and phone number. I sent a letter to AT&T when I learned of this fiasco. They reply to me saying that they were sorry, and that I would get a statement in one or two months showing a credit for the amount in the collection account which I never paid.
Now I need to talk to Palisade and make sure that when Experian calls again, they give correct information about that bogus account.

This is for Richard M. , of Texas U.S.A. I'm with you. Let's file a class action lawsuit to get our money back.
