I received a collection letter from Palisades, who supposedly bought from AT&T Wireless, an account they say is mine.

Palisades Collection says I owe them $1,296.18.
I've never had AT&T Wireless service; Not now and definately not back in 1998, which is when they say I opened this account.

I called AT&T and the customer service rep was somewhat helpfull. She told me that my name is in thier records, gave me the address that was being used for the account (I had moved from this address in 1992), and the original acct. number.

I called Paisades and spoke with Julio Hernandez who is in charge of collecting my debt. He told me that I would be sent all of the information in the mail, because he was not allowed to give any details over the phone.
This would take about 30 days.

The very next day, I recieved the exact same letter in the mail as I did the day before.

When I tried to call Palisades, the extention Julio Hernandez gave me was invalid - I never got to speak with anyone - just the recorded "Leave your name and #" scam.

This is all fraud and someone is going to pay...
and it won't be me.

Class Action is needed here desperately.
