In college I had an account with At & T paid on time consistently. At & T offered a better plan than what I had and I asked them if i could switch and they said yes and that i would not be charged.

Apparently I was charged and now Palisades is saying that i owe them $1,016. There has never been a bill sent to me from at&t regarding this. I'm trying to contact Palisades but theres no one to talk to. I want proof of their bogus $1,016 that i allegedly owe. This is seriously hurting my credit score. Help someone please!!!

O.K. here is the deal, I DID have an outstanding balance with A-T&T, and initially my account was sent to a company called B.C.R. (bureau of collection recovery), after repeated attempts to collect they offered to settle AND close my account if i paid half of the balance owed.

So i did, they also assured me that all appropriate parties would be notified that the debt was satisfied, and i would also receive a letter of resolution in the mail. Which I did not.
After some time had passed i heard nothing, and naturally assumed that the matter was settled. I guess not! Then I received a notice from another company stating that my account was sold to them on behalf of palisades collection. I faxed them all the proof that I had that the matter was settled, (settlement letter, proof of payment, etc) No more calls from them.......

Now, they have apparently passed off my account to yet another agency which is attempting to collect. WHAT IS WITH THESE GUYS! I PAYED! LEAVE ME ALONE.
If ANYONE out there takes legal action on these guys please let me know. This is B.S., not to mention the effect that this may be having on my credit.

I am going through the same problem except I have some lawyers contacting me, although they refuse to provide a last name or documents. I personally am dealing directly with the credit reporting agencies (ie. experian, transunion, ..) I think there is a class action lawsuit if you find info on it let me know we might want to jump in on that. let me know what you plan on doing and how it goes.

good luck, my adventure started less than a week ago.
