I had cell phone service through AT&T. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I needed to remove service of one of the phone due to a split with myself and my wife. AT&T wanted to charge me a fee to stop her service and they also wanted to charge me roaming fees that were not incurred. AT&T first turned the account over to an attorney. After sending her my letter outlining the problem, I never heard anything back. I called her and she said AT&T took the account back. AT&T never responded to any of my letters even though I sent them certified mail. I then got a call from G C Services. I faxed all them all the letters, etc. that I had sent to AT&T and they were going to look into it. Next thing I know G C Services reported my account to all the credit agencies, Equifax, etc. I sent in a rebuttal and was told the account was indeed collectible, but I still could not get any response from AT&T.

Well now AT&T doesn't exit, thank God, but I have now been contacted by Palisades Collection regarding the same account. What in the heck is going on here?? How can an collection be turned over to another company after one has already reported it on my credit? Am I mad? You bet I am. I'm going to go after G C Services, Cingular (since they now own AT&T) and Palisades. This is totally riduclous. When a company recevies a certified letter, don't they have some responsibility to respond?
