Panasonic Terrible Quality Televisions the business that doesnt give a dam Charlotte North carolina
On 9/03/00 I bought a big screen Panasonic TV, PT51DX80A, for $1500.00 at Circut City. Exactly 2 years, 5 days later the tv goes on the blink.
first I had a Circut City repair person come to my house, charges me $79.00 and can not figure out what is wrong with it.
I tried to contact Panasonic over phone 15 times over 5 days, I was always on hold for 15/30 minutes at a time without speaking to anyone.
During this time I tried to send emails. Replies would tell me to call.....oh yeah....sure..hire some people to answer your phones.
I had also looked up the "authorized independent service repair centers" in my area. I called 1 of the 2 listed. They came out, picked up my TV on 12/16/02, charged me $110.00.
Finally, on the same day after 4 more calls and holds I spoke to "Terry". He understood my problem, oh yeah, a 2 year old tv should not be doing that, please fax us the repair estimate when you get it.
Meanwhile, my tv is taking a vacation, I can not afford because I am thinking a $500 repair bill is coming. It goes from Charlotte NC to Kernersville NC? without my knowledge. I continue to call and call and call...
Surprise!!! On 2/17/03....yes over 2 months later, I get a phone call from Audio video repair center, Pnasonic's "Authorized Independent Repair Center". this is when i find out my tv is in another city and the repair bill is $1015.81.
It seems the DP Board is bad..wow mamam this usually does not happen on these sets.
Meanwhile back at the big screen tv-less homefront, I sit waiting for Panasonic to contact me. I have faxed, called and ect.
Hell, I can buy a brand new one now for $1400.00. It seems to me when you spend that kind of money on a product, it should hold up better then that. I have owned all brands of televisions, this is the first Panasonic.......and the last.
BTW...in my den now is a 19" Samsung that is 18 years old (bought when my son was a baby). This tv looks pretty good compared to a $1000.00 repair bill every 2 years.
Oh yeah, I am going to get my tv back unfixed, unless Panasonic pays for the bill, I think I will turn it into a litter box for my cat. If you have anyone creative uses for this piece of junk, please let me know. Do Not Buy Panasonic!!!!

Panasonic finally called they offered me $100.00 or to let me buy a new 51" tv for $1500.00 .... wow, now isn't that nice. Now I know I am old but they must think I am senile. I bet everyone wants to pay $1500.00 for a new tv every 2 years. BTW...these same tv's have been on sale in the Sunday ads for $1400.00. Please check out there web page it states that Customer service is our key, hey it's worth the laugh I guess
