I live in the beautiful Ozark Mountains in Strafford, MO. I'm downhill from the Paradise in the Woods RV Campround. This place has got me VERY upset with their practices as well as their treatment with us natives. Paradise in the Woods was bought several years ago by an older couple believed to be from Florida. The husband drives a car transport for a living while the wife stays at the park to oversee it.

There is a small bit of property sharing the tract of land with Paradise RV. The land went up for auction not too long ago where the owners of Paradise had a chance to purchase it. Instead, a good friend of mine out bid them in the neighborhood of $ 1,500.00 more than what Paradise RV was willing to pay. My friend has since moved in and has been there several years now.

In the meantime, Paradise RV had been making improvements to their property and discovered that they needed that little bit of land to handle the capacity the park has. Mainly for a larger septic pond. I say this because my friend had noticed tankers coming in and pumping sewage out of the tanks in the middle of the night probably because too much overflow was going into what we dubbed as, "Lake Mini-Poo Poo".

Since then, they have taken my friend to court on several occasions complaining that they are losing business, (A BIG LIE), because of how he keeps his property. There are (currently), NO PLANNING AND ZONING in the county in which we live, and in fact, that's exactly why most of us are EVEN HERE! My buddy makes his living collecting and selling antiques and other junk. The property is nestled in the woods with road frontage and he's in the process of building a privacy fence along the road. To us natives, this is a PERFECTLY normal looking property for the location it is in.

However, the owners of Paradise RV have been calling the Sheriff constantly about my buddy having friends over, parking outside of his house, and visiting out in the yard.....you know.....the NORMAL stuff EVERYBODY does when relaxing with friends and family.

It's never a good idea to report a business unless you yourself have had dealings with the business. SO....let me tell you about what this place has done for ME in the past.

A few years ago we were snowed in. There was no way in, and no way out. We were running our heat with propane at the time, and we ran out. I had a 100lb tank that I dragged up our hill to Paradise RV. The husband wasn't home, but the wife was. She knew who I was because I had a mobile welding business at the time and did some work on her husband's truck.

She told me that I couldn't purchase the propane because her husband wasn't here to fill the tank. I explained to her that I was certified in filling propane tanks by the State and that I could fill it myself. I had my certification with me because I knew her husband was on the road. I explained that I had 5 kids and a wife that is at the bottom of the hill shivering. She still REFUSED.

A couple of summers later, my kids wanted to swim in their pool. (They allow locals to swim for a daily fee). When she found out who's kids they were, and that I was good friends of the property owner that they hated, they REFUSED to allow my kids to swim in the pool.

Now.....these owners are professed Christians and attend Church regularly. In fact, some of their Church members have made it clear to some of us natives that their whole plan is to, "run the neighborhood".

Here's the whole problem. Most people who stay at the RV park love my buddy! They absolutley love to browse through his, "junk" for those hard to find items like wagon wheels, arrowheads, milk cans, john deere collectables and so on.....

I don't understand people like this. This could be a very WORKABLE partnership between the two of them, however, the owners clearly have a hatred for us hillbillies who were here FIRST.

You won't find this place on the web, all I could find were more complaints like this one. I hope that this does some good. It certainly made ME feel better.

I hope that God has mercy on these owners for their injustice and clear motives to ruin my buddy's life and chance to live in HIS house in PEACE.
