I also am dealing with this company! I borrowed $300.00. I was making my weekly payments, until I had to close out my checking account, because of another one of these internet loan companies pulling out unauthorized funds from my checking account.

I called Paragon, and explained to this to them, and was told that I needed to pay the full balance owed NOW! "all or nothing!" I told them I could only pay 1/2 and could have the next the following week, and they said they would not except payment unless it was the full amount.

I was then contacted by a collection company--never was told the name but with a very rude lady named kimberly. Wanted $751.00 by 6 p.m. or was told I would be charged with internet fraud and they would send the police in my county to have me arrested on the job site. I told them I was willing to pay the bill, but I had no way to come up with the money by 6 p.m. I asked if could split the amount in 2-3 payments and was told no. I asked for the phone# to paragon so I could speak with them about this matter and was told Paragon was done with me I could not talk to them because I was a fraud and I would be jailed.

I was hung up on, so I called back and asked to speak to her manager, and she said no that she would tell me the same thing. I demanded to speak to her manager, and was again hung up on. I called back again and finally got her supervisor who told me yes I could send a payment of $290.00 by 12 a.m. and then told me wait she thought I was someone else and I had to have the whole $751.00 by 6 p.m. I asked why someone else could make payments not but not me and was screamed at and told to mind my own business and worry about my own bill, and to pay by 6 p.m. or GOOD LUCK!!

I called back again later and talked to kimberly again and she told me that the reason some can make payments and not me is because they are disabled and I am not. She then accused me of telling the other lady I was someone else and that is why she started telling me I could send in a payment of $290.00 by midnight. I told her I did not state that I was someone else and she argued so I asked if they recorded this and she said they did, so I asked her to play the recording for me, and again she hung up on me.

Well, today is another day, I am going to be making some calls to an attorney, and the county attornies office and police department and PARAGON!

Not until you get a letter of confirmation from them that the debt is indeed settled and that I-Collect will not be contacting you anymore.
For your sake, I hope I'm wrong.

Just wanted to update, I called Paragon, and explained the situation, told them the dates I had called to inform them of the stop payment I had put on them, and the date I called to let them know I had closed my checking account and wanted to make payment arrangements, which on that date told me in no uncertain terms would I be allowed to make payments. I told them I had not heard from them until this collection company called, which I found out is called I-Collect. Paragon of coarse said they had no record of the two phone calls from me until yesterday. I went on to explain the phone calls from the collection company, and told them if they wanted their money I would pay them and no one else.

They told me it was to late the account was out of their office, and no way to get it back. I then asked to speak with a supervisor, and again explained my situation, again being told there was no way to get back the account into their office. I then asked to speak to the supervisor's manager, and after being told she would tell me the same thing, they finally put her on. I again explained my situation to her, who asked what kind of payment arrangements I wanted to make, and I told her I had the money to pay account off in full now. She said she would make some calls to try to get account back into her office. I later called back, and she said she got it handled. I paid over the phone, and made sure that they would never put money in my account again, and then try to charge me all over again, and I paid them. By the way, I only had to pay them the full amount owed plus one $90 fee, so all I ended up paying to pay off account was $390.00, not the $751.00 that the collection company "I-COLLECT" demanded I pay. I have since filed reports with the BBB, AG's office, and still will be contacting a couple of others.

Screw Them!

You need to keep a record of every contact made by the company to you. If what you say happened actually happened, they are in violation of the FCRA and you can go after them. They lied when they said they would send someone to your job to arrest you---they don't have the authority. And the thing with the FCRA is, if they threaten it, they better have the intention and the means to follow up on that threat or it is a violation...my suggestion to you? Change your phone number and do not contact them other than with typed, not signed letters that ONLY refer to information you KNOW they have about you. Also go to the bud hibbs website and look there for some advice.

Jail

You're not going to jail. Legally, they cannot threaten you with that. Not just because it's a retarded thing to say but it's just plain WRONG. I wouldn't waste my time with an attorney. Take them to small claims court. Your county clerk's office will help you with the process. It's easy. In the meantime, tell the loan company to stick it and not to call you anymore. Never, talk to these people on the phone. NEVER!! Again, don't worry about jail. You're not going. It's just a tactic used to get people to pay up. It's an empty threat and one they can never enforce. Then never take one of these loans out again. Cheers!
