6 years ago I signed a contract for membership at Riviera Fitness Gym handled by Paramount Acceptance. In this contract I had the employee of Riviera Fitness Gym include the clause that I would not be penalized for canceling my membership contract if I moved out of state. One year later I called Paramount Acceptance to let them know that in 30 days I would be moving out of state and needed to cancel my membership contract. They told me that I would need to provide documentation of my move. 3 weeks after I moved out of state I sent the required documentation.

However, when I received my credit card statement that month I found a charge from Paramount Acceptance for the following month's membership. I called Paramount Acceptance letting them know that they needed to refund this charge. The spokesman refused to comply, so I asked to speak with a manager. The spokesman transfered me to the voicemail of a manager and I left a detailed and very polite message asking for a return call. I received no call back even after trying again several times.

I then called my credit card company and explained my situation. They told me that if I sent in a detailed report with documentation they would remove this charge and refund my money. After reviewing my report and documents they ruled the charge to be fraudulent and no longer accepted any charges from Paramount Acceptance on my credit card.

6 years have passed and I have heard nothing more regarding this issue until just last week. I received a call from United Recovery Group collections agency stating that I owed a past bill from Paramount Acceptance. I let them know that this was a fraudulent claim and that I would not pay this charge. United Recovery Group has now called me everyday this past week letting me know that they are now charging me interest on this bill and that they will take legal action against me if I do not pay.

I have verbally disputed this claim over the phone and have sent a letter to United Recovery Group to dispute this claim. However, they continue to harass me with phone calls demanding payment.

I would recommend that noone ever sign a contract with Paramount Acceptance as they are dishonest and this nightmare situation could happen to you.

These clowns are calling my cell phone looking for another person. I told them they had the wrong # . They also told me that they would remove  my # from thier computer . It did not happen. I seen the #8012728623 on my cell I did not answer it but they left a messaga for this person who they are trying to contact . I listened to the message but did not return the call so to take care of the problem I put a block on thier # so they cannot call again

they wont, they are using tactics to scare you.tell them its a fraudulent claim, you wont pay it and they shoud sue.if they do and you are served deny everything in a letter to the court and send copy to their attorney.when it goes before a judge you have all the paperwork and since its six years and the statute of limitations is six years on collection cases chances are it will be dismissed on that alone.if they sue and you can afford an attorney that is your best route.i doubt they will sue you but ive been down this road before, dont let them walk all over you, fight back, you have rights.worst thing,if they sue and you are served do not disregard the summons, either let an attorney handle it or answer it by denying the allegations.dont forget original to clerk of the court, copy to their attorney.i had a golds gym membership in florida and it was very well run, contracts were on an annual basis and i had no trouble not renewing when i moved.im sure there are many golds gym franchises that are run honestly.the bad ones ruin it for the good ones.
