Complaint Review: Paramount Jewelers LLC

My wife and I brought her wedding ring in for a sizing because Kay Jewelers couldn't get it done fast enough for our time frame. This ring was appraised by Paramount Jewelers prior to dropping the ring off. It is a platinum setting with certified Leo Diamonds valued and appraised at over $12,000 for the set. They took her ring and literally hacked it up! They cut the ring for the sizing in the exact spot of the Leo stamp that incorporates a Leo Diamond for the "o". That marking is barely visible now although they did make sure to leave the little "o" diamond. Then, for whatever reason, they took platinum from the actual setting and replaced it with yellow gold and dipped the ring in rhodium plating so we could not see the yellow gold until the rhodium wore off. The setting is trashed and they charged us a premium to size it due to the value of the ring and the fact that it is a platinum setting.

When the rhodium wore off and we could see the damage we took the ring set to an experienced jeweler who pointed out all of the flaws that Paramount Jewelers caused. The setting will literally have to be replaced because the cut rate, rip off, money hungry jewelers at Paramount. When we approached the store with the ring they gave us the run around. The owner Alex could never be found. We even went to their other locations Paramount Jewelers in Town East Mall and Paramount Jewelers in Killeen and to our surprise we could never find Alex. We eventually tracked him down at the Collin Creek Mall location after weeks of trying to get ahold of him. We were told that the only thing they could do is to take it back and try to repair. The ring is unrepairable and we would never let them hack at it again. He became irate and belligerent because he knew we caught him in his scam. And to this day has not offered any compensation or resolution.

So buyer beware! Do yourself a favor and stay away from these scam artists!
