Paramount Rarities Jason Stark Solicited gold coins under pretense of buying or trading. Did not return coins or pay or trade Shipley New York
In Dec 2016, I was contacted by Jason Stark of Paramount Rarities, 999-32 Montauk Hwy, Shirley, NY 11967 To discuss buying or trading some gold and silver coins. At his request, I sent him five gold coins which I had purchased for $ 8,826.00 He was to have his appraiser evaluate and make me an offer on the five coins. He responded with comments that my coins were quite common and would not appreciate very fast, if at all, based on their collectible value.
He offered to buy my coins for about $ 6,000.00 less than I had paid and I turned down his offer. He countered with an offer to trade a silver half-dollar which was a hot item and should appreciate in value much faster than my gold coins. I agreed to look at his coin. He sent it and after due diligence, I concluded that his coin was overpriced at least 40% above market and with his concurrence, returned the coin to him and he was to return my coins to me.
He has not returned the coins. He is difficult to reach by telephone and usually has some excuse why he hasn't returned my coins. After six months of trying, I still have not received my coins.
