In March 2012 Canada introduced a new law that would change how the parole board grants record suspensions, previously known as pardons. The waiting period to be granted a record suspension has also increased. I purchased my pardon application through Pardons Canada sometime in 2010, a couple years before my eligibility date to have my pardon application reviewed by the parole board. Pardons Canada told me it is best to start the application early, even before my eligibility date because this would give them time to complete all necessary paper work on time. Obviously they needed their fee first which was around $400 if I can remember correctly before they could start my application so I paid that in full. I was expecting to receive a pardon in April 2012 but becuase of the new law I now would have to wait till April 2017; for this reason I requested to cancel my pardon application and asked for a full refund that was denied. Customer service barely responded to my emails when I questioned them on why they couldnt send me my money back. So I paid $400+ for absolutely nothing. I purchased a pardon application and not a record suspension and if a pardon is no longer available, I should be entitled to a full refund. I strongly advise everyone NOT TO USE PARDONS CANADA. They are very good at selling their service to vulnerable people that are in need of clearing their criminal past, usually they'll answer any questions you might have in regards to their services through email instantly, but once they have your money you'll be lucky if you get any emails answered at all.
