My boyfriend and I rented a townhouse through Park Ave Previews in July 2013. We knew it was not perfect, but took it because we own a dog that is generally restricted from most rental properties. We moved into that house needing a laundry list of items to be fixed. Weeks and weeks went by with playing phone tag with Marla, the property manager, and the repair man. I've never received a call back before 24 hours after I called.

Finally, the repair man came and fixed about 85% of what needed to be done. We were told that we'd have to schedule seperate appointments with the homeowner's warranty company to get the fridge and AC fixed. Those companies only worked normal business hours, as do I. On top of that, we owed a deductible of $75 that would be subtracted from rent. A few appointments resulted in the repair company never showing up. A couple repair requests resulted in the repair man never calling back when he said he would. When I expressed my concerns with Marla, her response was, "I'm sorry you feel that way. Our repair man is a very busy guy and we're not the only company he works for."

Most recently, there has been a dead tree in front of our house that has branches and limbs constantly falling off. I know that the tree was an issue with previous tenants because the neighbor stated the previous tenant asked for it to be cut down and it never was. Marla's response was, "The previous tenant complained of debris falling and chipping her paint." Should a tenant be subjected to having to deal with either situation? The tree is CLEARLY dead... no green to it and has a mushroom-like fungus growing all around the base of it.

Once again, just a clear sign that either the homeowner is taking the cheapest route OR the property management does not care about the tenant's concerns. This problem was reported to Marla on Nov. 18th, 2013, with a picture sent of the fallen branch that left a huge dent in the hood of my car. After 4 calls to Marla, I received a call stating someone would (supposedly) be there to cut down the tree today (Dec. 10, 2013). That call included no courtesy of anyone offering to pay the $250 deductible that I have to pay to fix the dent either.
