Park Vista by Bonaventure: lock down for the elderly, "memory care" is cage for humans, Port Orchard, Washington

Don't go there. Don't let anyone go there. They get staff that don't know the law. Old people can NOT be imprisoned in an assisted living.

We had my aunt there for a while. We were visiting everyday until our vacation. We were gone a month. When we came back she was full of anxiety. They wouldn't let her out of the building the whole time. When she complained they locked her in the dementia ward. We got her out of there pronto. We felt horrible that we had been tricked into leaving her there.

I complained to the police and DSHS and they didn't care. It seems no one cares about seniors in Port Orchard. Put your relatives in another county. The APS agent Debbie Mark-Corpolongo said that we should have told our aunt not to walk out of the building before we had left. I told her it was against the law to hold someone in an assisted living against their will. She said that it wasn't true. It is. Read state law RCW 11.92.190 I think that DSHS and APS get a cut for making old people stay in Park Vista.

This "unknown" person is probably the director at Park Vista. If you look on their web-site there is a report from a "employee" who was actually  the director at that time. No employee there will write a positive report.

My aunt did NOT HAVE DEMENTIA and they they locked her in the dementia ward. I have seen plenty of places with locked wards, but it's hard to find one as stark and depressing as Park Vista. Over drugging anyone is a crime. Holding someone against their will is unl;awful detention. It is also a crime.

We found a nice place that didn't try to lock their regular residents in a dementia ward to control them. Autie is in Olympia nopw and they don't try to keep her hostage. She has NO anxiety there and is allowed to come and go as she pleases.

NO ONE gets a "cut" from placing anyone in an assisted living, nursing home or the likes.  Are you the POA??? Who signed off on the admission package??? What do yoy think the Police were going to do?? Arrest the staff!!!

IF you think you can do a better job more power to you - because when someone has Dementia they do need round the clock care. I know because I work in this field.  SO before you start bashing them I suggest you work at a nursing home.  It is not all roses I guarantee you. OH and BTW what is an APS case worker doing involved in case management???????? That speaks volumes.
