Parker Imports - Innovage ripoff shady recruitment practices San Bernardino California
This information is meant to help anyone who has been contacted by Parker Imports to join their team as entry level management or for any other position.
First of all, their office or distribution center in San Bernardino is just scary looking. Grafitti on the walls, metal bars, etc. I mean do you see yourself enhancing your management skills at this place?
Your first interview is just for 10 minutes where they ask you about your resume and what you want to do in 5 years. They do not give you opportunity to ask questions and they do not give you helpful information about the job or the company. Its general stuff, that you will be enhancing your marketing/sales, adminstrative, inventory and managerial skills but no details.
They will ask you to come back for a 2nd interview the next day and that it will last the whole day as you will be observing one of the managers on the job. They will tell you to wear comfy shoes!!! (hint hint!) This is because you will be conducting door to door sales to every single stall at a strip mall where you will be kicked out by security guards. Also, you will be carrying all of your merchandise of cheap stuff weighing around 20 lbs in a cardboard box for more than 8 hours.
If you ask them about the earning potential for the job, they will say the same amount that is on your application that you submitted to them (basically they will lie to you because their compensation information is not clear and is not on any piece of paper that you can look at. In fact, nothing is on a piece of paper... professional enough for you???). They will tell you that you can earn up to 80,000+ in a year if you pass all the different stages of management. However, you will be doing the door to door sales 90% of the time and you might not even pass the stages of management if the management does not like you (in my opinion). They will point out several people in the office who makes more than 100,000 a year and trust me you will ask yourself... how??? I just don't believe it. There are no proofs. Also, you go to some dangerous areas and all of these is voluntary and you are not their problem if something happens to you. You will not get paid for that day and I think you should be.
Once your 'observation day' is finished you will go back to headquarters and talk to the 'head' for a 3rd interview where you either have to say 'yes' i want to work or 'no' i am not interested. if you say 'yes' you will work the next day. if you say 'no' they might get upset with you and give you the 'look' as if you wasted their time when in fact they wasted your whole day.
Anyway, i hope this helps and saves the time of job seekers who are trying to apply at Parker Imports. (note, they will make you work more than 8 hours a day and 6, maybe 7 days a week)
