I have sent my son to Passages Ventura in the fall of 2011.  This company is very misleading with what they promised at a very high cost.  We spent $30,000 for one month for my sons addiction.  As a desperatte mother of an addicted child and not knowing much about addiction, I believed their one quote that stood out to me which was:

At Passages - Addiction Ends Here.  I realize that there is no promised cure for addiction, so therefore this is a misleading statement.

The following are also treatments they offer and promise:

We offer more individual one-on-one sessions than most other rehab centers, along with semi-private three-on-one sessions as well. - He did not receive any one on one sessions

You will have a team of 6 to 8 therapists, depending on which treatment plan you choose that works intimately with you. - I know that he did not receive 6 to 9 thereapists, I think he may have talked to one, but definately not for the whole month.  Might has seen therapists at the most 4 times.

We focus on healing the underlying issues that are causing you to use drugs and alcohol. - That was another reason we sent him was for him to talk about any other underlying issues that might cause him to do drugs.  They did not address this nor did we get a diagnosis.

I feel as though this rehab was very misleading, for $30,00i0 a month, nothing was accomplished, they said he needed to stay a couple more months and needed more time.  That may be true, but we could not afford another month at that price, nonetheless a couple more months.  And within that month, nothing was done.  Nothing.  I remember one thing he called home about and that was he got accupuncture.  Also, we had to pay for supplements they say he needed at ridiculous prices, when we could have gotten at local drug store for way cheaper.  We can not afford that kind of money to make my son better.  But like I said, I was a desperate mother, called them and they made me believe all this stuff that I begged my husband to come up with that money to send him.  Nothing changed within the month he came home.

To sum it up:  They are very misleading in what they say they do and what it is they don't do.  And being a family owned business, with the father starting it for his son that had addiction problems, I thought they would understand.  I personally feel I was "ripped off" and my emotions "played" with.

All I would like is to get my money back so that I can use it to get my son better and not lose him to this I terrible disease.  And like I said, I felt as though they played with my emotions on the phone and that is something that angers me especially when you do nothing but worry about your child everyday and I thought I finally found someone that would make him better.

Thank you.

There is no "cure" for addiction - the AMA says it is a disease.  Please find you child a reputable treatment center with a 12 step program and REAL counselors - not acupuncture or workout rooms.  REAL treatment is hard, tough and works if you work the program.  I hope that your child gets better and uses the tools a REAL treatment center offers.  Good luck and God Speed.
