I became a Realtor recently and had to join the local chapter of the National Association of Realtors. For those who don't know, membership is required to practice real estate in the U.S.

One thing that absolutely outraged me when I began this so-called career is how the brokers "all" push agents to telemarket on a regular basis to dig up as much business as possible (called "dialing for dollars"), and even though the public mood is most certainly going in the direction of curbing these intrusive and nuisance phone calls, at least the local Board of Realtors has stated it wants to prevent laws from being passed to curb telemarketing.

So next time you get a nuissance call from a Realtor asking if you want to sell your house - who more than likely didn't want to call to begin with, look up the Board of Realtors in your area and tell THEM it has to stop, and that you'll call an agency when you want to sell.
