On 6/27/05 I made a deal with Pat Clark GMC to buy a Yukon XL for $38k @ 2.9% financing.I met with financing director Cyndi Berger, signed the docs, and was good to go.I was having a dvd installed,so I left the vehicle with them so they could perform the work. The next day cyndi calls me and says she couldnt get financing the way the deal stood. Cyndi told me I would need to put $1k down, and Gmac would pick up the deal.

I said then that means the deal is null and void, and she said yes, that was the case. I told her that since she could not honor the original deal I was no longer interested in buying the suv. Cyndi responds fine, and hangs up. I then get a call from William Francis the Internet Mgr.(my salesman)who says just sign some new docs, and they will throw in a extended warranty.

I tell him I am no longer interested in buying the vehicle, to which he responds that since the deal is null and void I have an out. I thank him for all his work and he responds that if I change my mind please consider him down the road. Well, on 7/2/05 I come home to find a meesage from Ken the General Sales Mgr.

I call him and he tells me the General Mgr. of the dealership went to bat for me at Gmac financing, got the deal done somehow, and come pick up your rig. I said no, the deal is null and void, per Cyndi and William. Ken hangs up and William calls me saying they have my signature on contract, come pick up my rig, and hangs up.
I smell a rat!

I intend to call GMAC financing and request all docs pertaining to my financing. How could they not finance me the first time, and lo and behold the second time -presto.I believe fraud is involved. I will be contacting my lawyer, the DMV,Attorney Generals Office, Corporate GMC, and the Regional President for Gmc/Western Division.I do believe war has been declared!

After complaining to GM CORPORATE HQ, and having my lawyer send a love letter to PAT CLARK GMC,I was not obligated to purchase the YUKON XL.Since I still was in need of a vehicle,I purchased a 2005 chevrolet tahoe(demo).Funny thing was I purchased it from BILL HEARD CHEVROLET Las Vegas.I was hesitant at first, since they have a bad reputation, but d**n it was not that bad.Sure they played a few tricks, but it was bearable.I bought my TAHOE for $30k out the door($575mos.)A final thought,a lawyer is a handy person in a pinch!

I agree BUT.. 38K sounds a bit high for the Yukon..

Are you getting the employee pricing?? Should be a LOT less with all the rebates AND the employee pricing. Maybe it's a good thing you decided not to get it. Check it out first.

Typical auto dealer scam. Tons of people fall for this nonsense every time they buy a car.

Trust me, no car rolls off the lot unless finance is sure they can make the deal work.

No car dealer stays in business very long by sending roaches home in new SUVs. They would have to take the car back. It would be beat up and dirty. Total loss.

So, they already know you will be approved for the loan before they let you drive off.

Here's where the con comes in.

Why not call you up and steal EXTRA money from you? What's the harm?

Hell, these people are all crooks anyway, so there's no honor or moral issues to worry about.

Victor did the one thing that nobody does. He backed out of the deal.

Most people hand over the $1,000. It's the quickest and easiest money the crooks will ever make. One phone call. $1000.

All dealers do this, so where the hell are you gonna go?

Here's the part I don't understand. Why the hell doesn't GM and the rest of the companies simply cut these crooks right out of the loop?

Sell direct to the public. One price, no haggling. You buy right from the factory.

They'd sell a lot more cars that way.

Sure, the dealers would be mad. But, they're trash anyway. Let them collect cans like the rest of the people who won't work.

Spot delivery scam

#8Consumer Suggestion

They tried to pull a fast one on you...the infamous spot delivery scam - very common at some dealers.
I think thats what happened to you. You were probably approved to begin with at 2.9% It takes all of 5 seconds for a dealer to pull your credit and determine if you qualify for the promo rate. Greedly dealers however like to call you back and say oops financing is at a higher rate and we need a down payment, just come down and resign some paperwork. Thats what give car salesmen such bad names. Unbeliveable they still try to play games with people. Oh yeah - the manager of the dealer didnt go to bat for you, to get you financed, thats just a line they made up to salvage the deal they lost by trying to be greedy. Its all a stupid game some dumb dealers still try to play.

Good for you, I would certainly report the dealership to GM headquarters. Tell them you wont put up with any BS at any of their dealerships.
