PATHMARK - QUESTIONABLE BUSINESS PRACTICES

The company offers a Coinstar machine to enable customers to exchange coins for a voucher and then pay their groceries with it. However, if by any chance you do not use the voucher the same exact day you exchange your coins they will TAKE YOUR MONEY and NOT ACCEPT your voucher anymore.

When I found out about that, they pointed out to a very small letters phrase at the bottom of voucher. It is really embarrassing that companies still count on the fact that a certain percentage of customers will not notice the little letters and fell into the trap. Even more sad is the fact that those machines are usually used by senior citizens and people that many times are short of money.

I also called Coinstar twice to ask for help and they told me that they already paid the supermarket and that I should talk with Pathmark manager. Well, I did and it did not help at all. After a 5 minutes conversation with who was supposed to be the Customer Service manager, it became clear that his title should be Chief Customer Enemy, an employee clearly poorly trained.

I have a family of 4 and usually spent between $6-10K/year purchasing my groceries at Pathmark. Now, I will switch to one of the many options in Edgewater.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND PATHMARK to anyone and will post this case in as many places I can.
