Complaint Review: Patricia and Frank Woodward

After renting a condo for approximately 14 months, a leak emerged from the handle of an upstairs toilet. I promptly alerted my landlord, as instructed in my lease. After four days of sacrificing EVERY towel in my house, soaking myself in toilet water, and countless trips to and from the laundry room, my landlord decided to tell me that I didn't alert her soon enough because she sent a repairman FOUR days after I told her about the leak. After getting home from work on a Wednesday evening, she asked if I was home yet because an HVac was going to come out. She lied. Her and her husband were waiting in my parking lot to ambush me, forcing me to sign a termination paper, claiming that I had to move out and get all of my belongings out by Friday night. Just under 48 hours to leave. Which is illegal.

she then tried to claim that all of the water damage was MY fault, despite the repairman telling me that the mold and water damage were years old and hadn't been entirely fixed the last time he was called out. (Before I moved in.)

she is now claiming that she is keeping my $2,000 deposit as well, despite all of the landlord/tenant laws that she's already broken. When I let her know that I've talked to my attorney about it, her response was "you don't have an attorney! If you do, I have a better one!"

this woman will take advantage of anyone younger than her, rip them off for their money, then use it to support her horribly-kept properties. DO NOT RENT FROM THE WOODWARDS.
