I contacted Patriot Moving approx. in April and got a quote from a Sales Rep., Christopher Sariol. I called him a week later and booked the move. In order to do that I had to give him a deposit of $500.00 over the phone. I gave him my debit card number and when I received the actual contract in the mail a week or so later, it had the copy of the transaction of my debit card being processed and approved for the $500.00 deposit.

The move was scheduled for Friday, May 26th of 2005. I had alreay packed all my boxes and notified my landlord I was moving out by that date. I had already taken vacation time as I was moving from San Diego, CA to Biddeford, Maine and was going to drive my car across the country.

2 days before the scheduled move, I get a call from someone named Hector leaving a message that my move was cancelled and that they are refunding my money. 2 DAYS!!

I not only want to be refunded my deposit but I also want to be reimbursed the cost of the storage fees and the additional cost of hiring a reputable mover which is what I should have done in the first place. Because this is a holiday weekend, no movers in my area are available for the next couple of weeks. I have to be out of my apartment in 3 days.

I feel they breeched their end of the contract by not fulfilling what they promised to do. I fulfilled my end when they cashed my debit card for 500.00 dollars.

PLEASE HELP!!

It's been almost 4 weeks and to date, no refund of my deposit has been made. The agent who sold me the contract will respond to my emails but no on else will take my calls. Did contact my bank and filed a formal grevience with the company and now I have a lawyer involved. We are planning to sue.
Will keep you posted.

Tagi,

you are much better off than had any mover Patriot hired actually showed up. The hassle you have to go through now to find a last minute mover would have been nothing compared to what others on this site complain about when Patriot was their broker. Do a search on Patriot, and on National Moving Network, their previous name, to see what you avoided.

If they do not refund your money within two weeks, contact your bank to issue a chargeback. Since Patriot cancelled your move, not you, there should be no problem. DO you still have this message on tape?

Good luck finding a new company.
