Around Feb. 2007, my mother found a craigslist ad for a Louis Vuitton perforated speedy 30. She was "charging" $375, which seemed too incredibly cheap, in hindsight. When we contacted her about the purse, she said she had the authenticity card and receipt. We thought that would be proof enough this was a legit offer.

So let this be a lesson to all of you: Scam artists are criminals and they WILL say whatever they need to in order to fool you into believing everything is okay.
Don't always believe a person if they say they have proof.

We sent our money via money order, which is our fault because Craigslist tells you never to do that! We just had a naive sense of trust in the other person. We never expected to be scammed by "Patty"! She then told us she sent the purse via USPS and even included the "tracking number". Well after waiting a week, we realized the package probably wasn't going to be coming and that we had been scammed.

I tried Reverse Lookup on Whitepages and found the names of the people living at the address she had given me. Turns out there is NO Patty Lazzarini...at least not living at the address. There is however a Louis D. Lazzarini and Lydia Lazzarini. Someone should tell them the next time they try scamming people, they should use a different address!

Here are some of the emails she sent to us.

It looks like "Patty" or Patricia is now a Police Officer in the city of Union City, NJ. If I were the person who was defrauded in this case I would personally contact the Internal Affairs office and let them know that one of their officers was involved in internet fraud.
