Paul J. Hooten And Assosiates, Paul J. Hooten And Associates Placed a levy on checking account without contacting me first Mt. Sinai, New York
In June of 2008 this company placed a levy on my checking account. They never called me, never sent me a written warning. When I called them, they said that I owe some money to a individual from A Small Claims court case from 2001. Actually, I have won a similar case against that individual in 2005 where he used the evidence from 2001 case. When I told that to the lawyers they refused to go to the Small Claims Court and listen to the tape from the hearing. Even after I faxed then a copy of court decision from 2005 they still refused to do anything. They refuse to answer emails.
According to the rules from Small Claims court they have no right to place the levy, the individual has to go to County Sheriff first. But the most important thing is that they did it without contacting me first and hence they violated the consumer laws.
