My wife went to the drug store to get my daughter some medicine. Her check card was declined. This was wierd as we HAD plenty of money in the account. We came home and found out that there was a hold on our checking account for $1998.00 from Pay Pal. We haven't used our Pay Pal account in 3 months!!The first thing we did was to check our pay pal account. We found that there was a unauthorized use of our account.

Some guy named Timothy Piner (thepineman@hotmail.com) was involved as well as the address had been changed to an old house we used to live at! Pay Pal is telling us we MIGHT get our money back after Chrismas. This does not help me with my rent. (That is what the money was for!!!) The bank is seeing what they can do as this will overdraft my account like you would not believe.

Pay Pal was unwilling to help us in this matter. Please Help Rip Off Reports!!!! CLOSE YOUR PAY PAL ACCOUNTS NOW!!!!

Thank You,

Joshua

All the comments on this Rip-Off Report site about PayPal and e-Bay are factual truth! We were lucky enough to "see the writing on the wall" soon enough and narrowly missed getting money taken illegally from our checking account for an alleged fraudulent buyer in U.K.--Katy Sylvester--and her Step Mom acting with her: Mrs. Golding-CA! Watch these two names--appears possible alleged fraudulent scammers with e-bay and PayPal. We were told by 2 others who had Paypal accounts during the holidays 2003--that their PayPal accounts were broken into--"hacked" to the tune of $6,000 and $8,000! How does this happen!? Irresponsible companies like e-bay and PayPal allow this to happen to accounts and the good Sellers with trust and integrity are not cared about! Both PayPal and e-bay highly support the Bad Bidder Buyers--those who do not pay--scam you--and PayPal will rip money out of your checking account before you know it and you won't ever get it back! They appear to back all of the wrong people--and do not trust the honest people! We were forced to close out of our bank account and notify the bank about our concerns with PayPal and e-bay. BEWARE! BUY FROM THE STORES--USE MONEY ORDERS OR CASHIERS CHECKS ONLY! if so. DO NOT GIVE PAYPAL OR E-BAY anymore of YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!! BE WISE! RESEARCH THIS ON-LINE AUCTION BUSINESS OR YOU MIGHT BE SORRY LIKE ALL OF THE FOLKS HERE ON RIPOFF REPORT THAT ARE TELLING THE TRUTH!

I went to the FTC web-Site and filed a report with them. I also went to the bank. With thier Help we were able to get the bank to NSF the draft, refund me the NSF charge,Give me all my money in cash. Close out that account. Gave me an advantage checking account free for a year (more than I hade before)as well as the Bank is going to monitor the closed account for futher fraud activity.

Pay Pal was supose to have a Manager call me back as well as email an affidavit so we could procede with them. Well the email and phone call didnt come. What we did get was an email from a manager saying we needed the affidavit before they would do anything, but failed to attach this info after claiming he was attaching it!!!

We emailed them back explaining that they we were very unhappy with thier conduct in this matter involving such a large amount of money. The next email we recieved stated that the we sorry they didnt attach this form and here it was. Guess what? NO ATTACHMENTS!!!

We replied back to this that we had already stopped the charge at the bank! I will go to the police department tomorrow and file an ID theft report. Thank you for your help in this matter. Please dont use Pay Pal or your life could be ruined!!!!

I understand your fustration on your account being put on hold due to a pending transaction. I have used PayPal for years and have experienced no problems at all.

Not sure if you have read the latest reports but you might want to take a look at this and see if this rings a bell with you or your wife.

Joshua,

File an ACH debit fraud complaint form with your bank and demand a full credit to your account immediately. How dare Pay Pal take such a relaxed approach to such a serious allegation of fraud? Its uncertain whether someone stole your identity; hi-jacked your account from within Pay Pal; somehow got the information from you; or simply guessed your bank account by luck. Regardlessfile a police report for theft first thing tomorrow morningdont walk, run. Then go to www.ftc.gov/idtheft/ and fill out an identity theft affidavit and send it to Pay Pal. Cancel your Pay Pal account.

I would also suggest you consult an attorney to look into a claim against Pay Pal for not using due diligence. I think it's high time more firms are held accountable for handling sensitive information so poorly.

Good Luck,
