I recently sold an item on Ebay to a person in another country. When shipping it through the post office, they informed me a tracking number could not be put on the package, BUT, I could purchase a Certificate of Mailing as proof the item was sent, and I paid extra money for this.

All the sudden, two months later, this person claims they never received the package and files a complaint with paypal. I respond saying I have this certificate and they want to hear nothing of the sorts.

As far as they are concerned, their policy states it must be trackable online to be covered. However, it also goes on to state they will provide a list of approved shippers. Now, many countries you cannot put tracking numbers on the packages because each country has it's own policies for its mail and doesn't neccesairly use those numbers.

Also, paypal works in conjunction with USPS as they advertise it on their site. When you click the ship button, the next page to pop up is a split screen of USPS and UPS. If you chose USPS, no where on the screen does it say we perfer you not to use this method of shipping although we advertise it religiously on our site.

So here I have PROOF I sent the package and they will not accept it. By their own admission on the telephone, they know of the growing problem steming from this and have yet nor do they plan to do anything about it.

In a nutshell, what they told me is I can go online and order as much stuff as I want and if none of it has tracking numbers online, I can wait to receive the items and then file a non receipt complaint and get all my money back when they know what I'm doing because that's their policy.

Needless to say, I do not do business with Ebay or Paypal any longer. And I am not stopping here. I plan to file a complaint with every agency possible under the sun. As long as they are based in the United States, they have to follow certain rules also. Just like a contract, just because a clause is put into a contract and a person signs it, that does not mean it is legal or will hold up in court. I'm finding more and more people are experiencing the same problem as me and it's time someone does something about it.

Paypal got me too, I sent a brand new designer purse. Customer left feedback on ebay that she loved it! 4 months later she wanted a refund because it ripped. I said NO WAY! She filed with paypal got her money back plus shipping fees and I never got the purse back.

All total with ebay and paypal fees I was out over $100.

Paypal does NOT protect the seller EVER!
I use bidpay. To hell with Paypal.
Paypal continues to send me notices to reopen my account. When I stop breathing paypal!

I could not AGREE MORE that ebay doesnt do jack sh_t to help people with problems like these and many more and timewise? HA! it seems like the ONLY time you hear from ebay like "lightning" fast is when these lazy-assed geeks want their money for seller fees.they do VERY little if ANYTHING except send you some stupid d**n "computer generated" form that they acknowledge the problem which dont mean anything to me or anyone else.ebay/paypal needs to SERIOUSLY get its act TOGETHER instead of giving people the run around.I would suggest anyone having this kind of problem should get in contact with the F.T.C.(federal trade commission) these are the big boys that regulate businesses.
