I tried to use Paypal to send A$30. Instead they processed US$30 and charged my credit card A$58. The recipient received A$42. What happenned to the $16 in the middle?
This equates to a fee of 27% on an international transaction. Now this has got to be a ripoff!
The Paypal system is just not capable of paying a local currency amount as everything that you enter is taken to be a US dollar amount. There is no indication of this on your payment processing screen though.
Just pay a US dollar amount says Paypal. This is not possible though as they do not provide a currency converter on the payment screen. What US dollar amount do I enter? How do I guess that 27% or some other amount will disappear in the middle? It is just not possible to use their system to achieve a specific local currency amount.
Although they know that this is the case they continue to promote their defective solution to international customers, knowing that they will be ripped off.
Try customer service you say! What service? It has to be the worst so called service available in the world today. They are clearly not interested in customers, just the fees they can rip off in the middle.
Time to be short selling I think.
