I sold items on ebay for quite a while with no worries. Funds were available via paypal in record time. Signed into account to check status of funds availability and was asked for verification, account limited. I verified all requested information sucessfully and paypal limitations remained. Paypal advised that limitation will remain indefinite and funds will be held for 180 days. Wheres the fairness? I did everything that was asked of me, all sold items were shipped and delivered; so now i am out of my products and paypal will not release my money for 6 months. That cant be legal! Beware!

i filed a complaint with the BBB, paypal responded with the normal generic response and i didnt accept. instead i emailed executiveoffice@ paypal.com and explained the situation, after 45 days my account was still limited but i was able to withdraw ALL of my funds.  it did take 3 email attempts with the last advising of BBB dispute to have funds released.

But that will be an eternal mystery. This policy is the worst of the worst.

How much interest does Paypal earn on millions of dollars in sales for say six months?

That is the real question

I refused to use Paypal long ago.

I too have had this problem with Ebay. I have sold several items recently, they were delivered, and my customers satisfied. However, Ebay saw it fit to withold my funds from me for an unknown period- I'm still waiting. As far as I'm concerned, this is unacceptable. I have filed complaints with both the North Carolina AG, and the BBB. There is no reason for them to not pay me MY money.

We have had our issues but I agree with you for once.
Kenny.......this policy is a peeve to me. This policy is exists for good reasons however it creates too much trouble for honest people. I know this because I have had to deal with this myself. So even if the seller has 100% positive feedback and 100% for the buyer this will still happen. So when you talk to the Indians who work for ebay will tell you that the computer "randomly selected this transaction"........in other words
.....they have no idea. So the seller is forced to stare at the money but cannot touch it. You need to think before you speak and know what people are talking about before you start typing away kenny.

it appears it's NOT illegal.  Here's what's in your agreement with Paypal under para. 10.3, "Actions By Paypal"..

"We may hold your Balance for up to 180 Days if reasonably needed to protect against the risk of liability or if you have violated our Acceptable Use Policy;"
