PC Outlet FRAUD AND MISREPRESENTATION San Antonio Texas

On 7/17/2007 I walked into PC Outlet to get the 'U' key repaired on my computer. I was taken aback that I would only be able to have the computer looked at by paying a $40 diagnostic fee. Clearly it was obvious the key had popped off the computer. So I had PC Outlet check out a couple more things to make sure my computer was functioning properly in order to take advantage of the $40 charge.

To my dismay- when I picked up the computer on 7/19/2007- the key was placed back on the keyboard BUT NEVER TESTED. It was not truly repaired as my 'U' key simply did not work. I returned to PC Outlet to inquire as to why it was not tested. I was told by the manager and in her words "final authority" that PC Outlet's sole repsonsibility was to place the key back on the keyboard and that I would have had to request that my key be tested. Moreover, I was informed that a problem likely existed with the keyboard itself and I would have to pay an additional $50 to have it installed and replaced. I requested the $40 dollars be applied towards the installation of the keyboard and was informed that because the U key installation actually occurred I would not be able to apply ANY PORTION OF THE $40 diagnostic fee to the new repair. I then asked this employee if it was PC Outlet's policy to install harddrives and not test them- as this was analogous to what happened with my 'U' key. The manager gave me a blubbering and non-sensical answer.

It is fraudulent to represent that a computer will be repaired and not test hardware installed. I am appalled by PC Outlets behavior. $40 may not seem like a great deal of money; however, when this occurrs repeatedly it is the PUBLIC at large who suffers from a greedy business policy. I plan to seek full redress in small claims court. The manager's flip attidude alone is reason enough for me seek this course of action. Anyone else care to join me?

PC Outlet Redeems Themselves

#2Author of original report

Soon after filing this report I was contacted by Ms. Macarena Valdez and offered a full $40.00 refund. Moreover, once I contacted PC-Outlet and spoke with Jared (another manager) to take advantage of Ms. Valdez's offer, the apology was sincere and I will be receiving a $40.00 check momentarily. I am quite pleased with this response and am confident that my interaction with PC- Outlet was a misunderstanding.
