Since graduating college 10 years ago I have worked for several companies. PCA International is with a doubt the worst company that I have ever worked for.
The corporate environment can only be described as "dysfunctional". Problems even when identified are dismissed as irrelevant. No vacation can be taken during the holiday season even though vacation doesn't roll over at the end of the year. Professional personal are required to work in the retail stores during the Christmas season to "help out".
There are managerial problems such as unqualified, incompetent managers, poor planning, poor interdepartmental communication, and a general disregard for employee well being. The managerial style is to belittle employees rather than reward them. This is especially true if an employee has more experience than their manager and does good work. It is a tactic to keep people off balance and to not expect praise/rewards. There is clear evidence that several of the managerial staff have emotional and/or psychological problems.
The work environment has fundamental problems such as "sick building" syndrome (OHSA needs to look into this). There is evidence of black mold and inadequate ventilation. There is exposed wiring, unsheathed knifes, loose carpeting, and other hazards.
If you are considering employment with PCA International my recommendation is to look elsewhere. Run. Run like your hair was on fire. Seriously.

The person in the original rip-off report failed to say that they only experienced a handful of the some 2,000 studios nationwide. To quality all the portrait studios in the U.S. under their own small, limited experience is to devalue the company.
Where I work, in CO, none of these problems have occured on a major front, at least none of the studio flaws mentioned(mold, exposed wires, knives?) and there are very few managerial problems. Given that they are a nationwide company, I guarantee that you'll find simliar situations in every nationwide company. Blanket statements don't help people who are looking into actual ripoffs to experience the truth about PCA.
