As everyone else looking for courses on line, I bumped into PCDI (Profesional Career Development Institute). All I wanted was information sent to me, so I went ahead and filled in the request and included my cell phone as a contact number.

The very next day (a Friday) my cell phone rang like crazy all day, and what was odd is that they never left a message. Since that was the bigining of Easter weekend, I really didn't feel like talking to anyone about business, so I decided not to answer their calls. The phone rang every couple of hours on Saturday, and even on Easter Sunday! Right off the bat, I started to get a bad feeling about them.

Finally on Monday at 8am on my way to work I answered a call. On the other line was an Asian woman who introduced herself as an admissions counselor for PCDI. I let her do her intro speech (I could tell she was reading a script...THIS WAS MY SECOND WARNING. After she was done, I told her that all I wanted was infomation mailed to me and that's all -she said thank you the information will be mailed to you.

On the same day-a couple of hours later I got another call, which I didn't answer, and later in the afternoon I got yet another call. This time it was an Asian sounding man, who I could barely understand....again I let him read his script and as I interrupted by telling him to just send me the info, he keep on reading....He told me that all I needed to do was fill out the admission application over the phone, then he would give me a student I.D number which would log me on, but before all that he need to get a down payment check from me. I interrupted again and told him I was not ready to fill out any admission forms, nor am I intrested in making a downpayment for something I have no information about.

He assured me that this is the best online school in the country, and that I would be able to get my certificate in a year or less for only $794 dollars.

Well, after telling him several times I did not want to enroll, and to just send me a brochure or something...he said he didn't have any brochures, just the books and material that I could get only if I made a down payment at that time.

I told him, I'm not that crazy, and to just forget the whole thing, because he was not trying to please me as a customer. He keeped begging me not to hang up and to realize what a rewarding experience joining PCDI would be for me.

Finally I hung up and started to research for reviews on line, and that is how I bumped into the Ripoff Report, which reassured me that PCDI in not worth my time or money---thank you very much.

Rip-Off Spotted-That's The Point

You know that old saying...If it looks like a duck it must be a duck....

Yes, I agree no Rip-Off occurred in this instance, because of the bad signs that lead to my final conclusion that it SMELLED LIKE A SCAM!

I have in the past requested information from legitimate colleges and universities and they do indeed send out admission packages for your review. I can't imagine a school refusing to send out information about their institution.

The PCDI web site is very vague, and just because you ask for information on paper does not mean you are ready to enroll.

Thanks to websites like Ripoffreport.com we can share our experiences, and whether it was before or after a rip-off, the reports here seem to be very helpful in the decision making process of someone who has a doubt about a certain business.

Thank You.

First, you requested information, then refused to answer your phone when they called with said information. THEN you complain because they kept trying to reach you at various times over the weekend. Why not just answer the phone the first time and save both yourself and PCDI the annoyance?

Second, not all schools have "brochures" -- most schools actually have an admissions counselor contact you personally to answer any and all questions that you may have (which is exactly what PCDI did). "Brochures" are not necessary as all general information is available online.

Third, there seems to be a misconception between both you and PCDI. The school must have been under the impression that you had thoroughly reviewed the website (seeing as how you filled out their webform online), and that you were serious about seeking more information on getting started.

You, on the other hand, perhaps were not as serious and just wanted more general information. This may happen from time to time in various dealings with businesses, but it is hardly considered a rip off. You made a choice to not do business with this school, case closed!

No rip off occurred, other than the fact that the admission representative's time was wasted due to an inaccurate request for information.
