PDQ Staffing runs ads for job openings all over the Career Builder site for "Admissions Advisors" positions with their client, American Intercontinental University, which is also affiliated with Colorado Technical University. Both schools are owned by the parent company Career Education Corporation (CECO is the ticker symbol for this company, which is traded on the NASDAQ), which, if you have been following the bad press, is currently embroiled in scandal, is under investigation by the SEC, and is facing angry shareholders and students who feel they have been taken for a ride.

What goes on is that the staffing company, PDQ Staffing of Glendale Heights (NOT to be confused with another company of a similar name out in California), uses the ads for "Admissions Advisors" on Career Builder as bait to lure in potential students for AIU online to totally take advantage of. In other words, when you show up for an interview with the staffing firm to try to get the temp-to-hire job with the University, YOU are viewed as a potential student for the University! PDQ wasn't really trying to fill that many temp-to-hire positions for AIU in the first place, but was trying to bait unsuspecting people to try to get them over to the University locations in the Chicago suburban area where the people from the University then try to get some of those people signed up as students.

For more information on just what is going on with AIU, you can easily do a search using the terms "Career Education Corporation" to find out about the SEC investigation, the 60 Minutes expose on the company, and websites like Rip-off Report, where people who have been approached by AIU or Colorado Technical University have been subjected to the hard-sell tactics, some even falling for the scam and enrolling with the University for more money than they could spend at a community college that offers online courses!

The worst thing about PDQ Staffing's involvement with AIU and Colorado Technical University is that not only do they not tell people who come to the interview that they, themselves, are going to be viewed as potential students and given the hard-sell by people who want them to enroll for the online courses, but also, because PDQ is running ads for temp-to-perm jobs that many jobseekers are taking seriously. The truth is that the University doesn't even hire everyone who gets lured to this huge cattle call where they are just viewed as fresh meat to make some money off of.

Furthermore, the associates who work for PDQ Staffing are well aware of what goes on because their own people have also done a temporary stint as "Admissions Advisors" for the schools owned by Career Education Corporation, whose stock has plummeted as a result of the critical media attention.

If you are a job-seeker, do not waste your time answering ads for anything put out there by PDQ Staffing, because they are just wasting your time and they are well aware that Career Education Corporation is involved in scandal. There are other, more reputable agencies one can utilize if they are looking for work through a staffing/temp agency.

Beware of American Intercontinental University, Colorado Technical University, Career Education Corporation, and PDQ Staffing of Glendale Heights, Illnois! Beware!!!

Fallicies About PDQ

#4UPDATE Employee

Fri, July 15, 2005

As a current temporary employee of PDQ Staffing and a former employee of a CEC School, I was appalled to read Alexis' report about PDQ. Alexis sounds bitter towards PDQ, but nothing she has reported is based in fact.

Point one: YOU are viewed as a potential student for the University
This is absolutely not true. The school has an enrollment process set in stone that does not include meeting potential students face-to-face; PDQ sends candidates to be interviewed by managers and Directors of Admission. CEC is a rapidly growing company looking to fill many Advisor positions. PDQ does our part to help fill these positions. We also fill other positions outside of CEC. Top managers of CEC would not spend their time interviewing candidates for potential students; they are looking to hire good candidates to fill open advisor positions. When I went through the application for this position I was never asked to attend their school, the school never solicited me to attend their classes, and I was never asked to solicit anyone for the university. I still have never taken one of their classes. As far as I know, none of my colleagues who worked at the university have ever been asked to attend school and none of my current co-workers have ever tried to get any of our candidates to attend a CEC class.

Point two: PDQ wasn't really trying to fill that many temp-to-hire positions for AIU in the first place
We are looking for candidates to fill positions at several locations and look to fill as many positions as are available at that time. Some locations, especially newer ones, require more advisors and we seek to fill those positions accordingly. There may be times when we are unable to place many people, but we are working for supply and demand for our client. In addition, I am currently working to place candidates in several positions other than for the university.

Point three: The truth is that the University doesn't even hire everyone
No employer hires everyone who comes through his or her doors. If that were the case, I would walk into a hospital and apply to be a heart surgeon! Every employer looks for a variety of criteria to fill specific positions, and that is the case with this employer. They cannot hire everyone who applies. We do our best to give everyone who qualifies a chance to apply for this position the chance to interview. When I first interviewed for the CEC position I was not accepted. A staff member at PDQ thought I was a good candidate and encouraged me to apply at another location. With a little persistence I was accepted. That says to me that they legitimately want to help people get a job, and that openings exist. Additionally, temporary services profit from their candidates getting hired, not by submitting them to a degree program.

Point four: their own people have also done a temporary stint as "Admissions Advisors"
I may be an exception. I worked for CEC as an admissions advisor, and then I left CEC to pursue a teaching position. I am still a teacher, but I went back to PDQ this summer to see if they had any summer positions available. I went back to them because my experiences with them had been positive in the past. I am also the ONLY person currently employed by PDQ who has also worked for CEC. They hired me, in part due to my previous success with their client. I am now recruiting for this position as well as several other positions offered through PDQ.

I am not sure from where Alexis received her information, but I hope that if people read what she has put forth, that they will see through the untruths she has manifested in her mind. PDQ has been nothing but helpful and accommodating to me and the people who I work with love their jobs because they are able to help others find employment.

Unlike Alexis, I am posting this announcement online with PDQ's phone number and I would be happy to talk to anyone about my experiences with PDQ or the university if they have concerns. If you have concerns, I hope that you will give me a call.

FALSE INFORMATION

#4REBUTTAL Owner of company

Fri, July 15, 2005

FIRST
The person who submitted this report names herself Alexis. As a company, PDQ has never interviewed, nor placed an employee at our client named Alexis and never employed an Alexis on Staff.

SECOND
PDQ has never recruited potential students for its university clients. PDQ is not in the business of recruiting & placing students at universities. PDQ strictly recruits and places employees in Staff positions at universities and other client companies. Alexis is simply
mis-informed. I can only assume that this person, posing as Alexis, was perhaps a recent Staff employee of PDQ, who was fired for cause & now has a grudge or someone who fell short of the student requirements to be accepted and enrolled at a university, taking out there frustration against the world.

THIRD
PDQ is and always has been a reputable agency assisting hundreds of applicants annually to find meaningful employment. I welcome anyone who wishes to utilize the staffing services of PDQ to call me personally @ 630-872-5380 x19.

Find out for yourself...

Sincerely,

Mark
