While working for this company, the company claimed that they ran their business to fund their charity which is supposed to create trips for kids to teach them about the world and also to grow edible gardens for school kids. They claim that 10% of all the proceeds from their sales go to support these efforts. Sounds noble, right? While working there though, in 3 years, did not one trip take place or even come to partial fruition. There were no gardens grown either. All the money that was going towards their charity was filtered into the business. Lying to consumers and their client base was only the start of the issues though.

They also treated their employees terribly. They hire people as independent contractors for certain jobs, then treat them like employees, and I'm using the IRS's definition of employee and independent contractors for these terms. I was hired to do part-time phone sales. Over the course of three years I was required to stay after hours to work on filling product and shipping, answer phones and manage the spa employees,be the "make-up artist," set up and run trade shows and booths at festivals, run in-house events, all without being compensated separately for this work. I was paid a small hourly wage, but other "contract employees," were paid minimum wage to work in one department then forced to do other jobs just as I was. A hispanic employee that was with the company when I started, got sick of being treated unfairly and making less money that I, even though she'd been with the company at least 3 years prior to my joining, so she resigned. Another hispanic girl and her sister were brought in to work on the products, when they would speak to each other in Spanish, the owner would tell them, "We speak English here girls. Stop speaking Spanish.'

I'm writing this report because other consumers and possible employees need to be aware that these people lie to get you to purchase their products, make empty promises about their charity work and lie about what they're doing, and treat their contracted employees terribly. They take advantage of people and they are predators looking to get as much as they can get from people without giving anything back, even though they say they do!
