(This is LONG-History and Rip-Off)

I must give you some history so you can picture the true effects of this rip-off. So brace yourself for a nice, long read:

Years ago, I went through an ugly divorce. My ex-husband left me with no car, and the kids we had together, and all the bills to pay. (I know...) My life basically fell apart. % years later, he married a woman with perfect credit. He refused to pay the debt, even when he signed our divorce decree, accepting the responsibility. He got married and his new wife cleaned up his bad credit. On my own,I put myself through college (paid for it myself!) and have been trying to repair the damage that was done to my kids and my credit while surviving.

There was no resolution of collecting money unless I wanted to take him to court every month to get the minimum payments.(The difference between state (divorce papers) and Federal (credit issues) I also learned that it would "fall off" in 7 years. Credit companies buy and sell reported debt to keep the process fresh disregarding any statute of 7 years. I have worked hard the last two years, to pay everything I can find that needed to be paid, to fix my "no credit" status, but still run into credit companies who get damaged documentation regarding my credit.

I wrote to each agency seperately on 3 occasions (at least) and also contacted the US agency that over rides any agency who doesn't keep up their records. They show my credit as clean. I still run into problems each time I try to get a loan or even a credit card. I did a survey in the internet outlining my situation and reponses would be sent to me with that profile.
I started getting many invitations in the mail for companies willing to help, but they wanted hundreds of dollars to get started. I was reluctant morally because technically, my record should be clean, but I keep getting refusals because of durogatory information.

Around this time, I got an invitation from People's Credit First in the mail. They only charged $45 to get started. I hated to pay the fee, but knew I had to start somewhere-getting on with my life. I sent them a check on August 31, 2002. I didn't hear from them or get a card in the mail so I went on the internet this morning and found their name everywhere...On the rip off site!!! I am writing in attempt to communicate to others that they must be stubborn with their opportunities. If they are reading this, its probably too late, like it was for me, but I still find the urgent need to write what happened.

I would love my money back, but know how the legal system is on a case like this and still I feel the need to purge my soul of this disgusting, despicable preying of the down and out in this country. I doubt anything would happen to a black list consumer like myself. It doesn't matter who did the damage, and the damage is done, but I have battled for 13 years trying to repair my stupid decisions from the past. Apparently, my judgement has not improved, or I wouldn't have mailed that check. (My bank will not help me as they said I did it willingly even though the information I was given about what I paid for was false.)
