People Smart I paid in advance for a open source background check on myself using a credit card. I obtained very little information for the money spent, $19.00.  Omaha Nationwide

The next month i received a monthly bill and called to question the membership dues that were being charged to my card, talked to a lady named Maria and received a confirmation number cancelling my membership. I never signed for a membership. Apparently they just sign you up when you provide your credit card for the initial information. They did not cancel the membership, never sent a confirming e-mail but provided the confirmation number over the phone. Later, when i called to b***h about additional charges, i was told, "we don't issue confirmation numbers, we send e-mails". This is a total scam.

I contacted Peoplesmart.com for a public record search. I paid for the services on that day, for the initial information that i needed. I paid up front for the services. I never signed for any membership for Peoplesmart services and was charged for a membership i did not want. When i caught on to this two months later, when i was being billed for their services, i called and cancelled and received a confirmation number to show my cancellation. Two years later, when it was discovered that i had been billed for these services on a card that was no longer being used, but was being slowly paid off, i again contacted them to b***h about the charges. They indicated that they did not issue confrimation numbers and that i should have been given a confirming e-mail. They credited me back 4 months but this company is a rip-off. If you use them, or have used them in the past, make sure that you look at your bills because they automatically sign you up for this monthly service and it is about $20 a month, even when you dont sign for it. Very stupid of me not to look further, but with the confirmation number that they later denied, i ended up paying quite a bit of money. Peoplesmart.com. A total rip.
