We received a letter, today, that my daughter (Ariana) was invited to participate in the P2P program. She would, according to the letter, be able to "travel and study in Australia in the summer of 2012."
Sounds great, right? Yeah...EXCEPT...
Ariana died of SIDS nearly 12 years ago, at eleven days of age. Tomorrow would have been her twelfth birthday. I would personally like to thank these people for the painful and unnecessary reminder.
I went to the website, first, and attempted to write a message on their "contact us" page. The message would not send...it said "website error."
I copied the e-mail address from the site, and sent them an e-mail message. I got back a form letter stating that my "question had been received, and would be replied to in the order it was received."
I tried the phone number. No luck, there.
I sent a message to one of their Facebook pages (there are several). No response.
So, I looked harder at the letter. Hmm. It says they've been around since 1956. According to the letter, that's "nearly five decades." Ok, my math says it was OVER five decades, 4 years ago.
It also gives a list of "Honorary Chairmen"...all presidents...including Ronald Reagan.
You would think they'd let a dead man get some rest! But...why would they? They have no problem expecting my deceased daughter to "travel beyond the ordinary travel experience." (Um, I think she's already done that. Thanks, anyway.
Be it known, Ariana was eleven days old when we lost her. Her social security number was listed as "deceased," so no one else could steal it. We have never had a credit card, bought a new car, or provided Ariana's name to ANY organization.
Where are they REALLY buying their information from?
I am beyond angry. I am disgusted.

See report # 671205 from last year.  I'm of the opinion that they are using public birth records as a starting point.  They then running the data (parent names) through locator databases to get more current information, in order to make a sale.   Your post and others make it pretty clear that being "nominated" requires nothing more than having been born.   This is nothing more than a travel agency for kids and the whole nomination smokescreen is just an attempt to flatter their potential customers and soften them up for the sale.
