Complaint Review: Peoples Products Inc

I purchased my home on 12/01/17.

On December 12, 2017 at 3:45 PM I sat down with Mr. Jay Ecudero about getting a new roof on my home at 56 Cuff Avenue, Springfield MA

With in 15 minutes Mr Mark Herbst walked in thru my front door (I had no idea who he was).  We sat at my table for 4 hours insisting  that I need the tyupe of roofing they had, I needed.  I expressed houw I had just purchased my home and I am only on Social Security and was not sure what my payments would be like for the house.  My child suipport and social security were included as income to get me approved for a loan thru Green Sky. The work came to $19,000 and was approved for $15,000.  Mr. Herbst asked if I could get the differance or come up with $1000. I said no.  He said, ok, lets say I am a nice guy and I will eiher re-roof your shed to match your roof? or just not insulate the attick? Unfortunately I had signed before he even called in the loan. 

On Tuesday, January 9, 2018 I had a court hearing for my 13 year old son, who lives in a boys residential program in Leicester MA.  The judge and DCF are asking that the portion of child support and what I get for a child dependent would be used directly for my son. ( I have alway did, but they need it to show he is getting support)  He lives there due to his mental health disability and PTSD. My income distribution has changed since I was approved in December.

January 9, 2018, I called Mr. Herbst and I expressed that I would not be able to go forward with this instilation project now.  I am soul caretaker of both boys and I have PTSD and severe anxiety. I explained the above change in income. He transferred me immediatly to someone  who explained that the product was already in the storage building.  I spoke with my friend about this who is very knowledgable about contracts and appeals. I never received the proper cancellation documents and NOTHING has been started on my house. 

On January 10  I spoke with Ramon at GreenSky, (loan compayt) about my financial situation.  He looked up the account and said nothing has been charged yet and he will cancel it.  I also told him that someone from Peaples products attempted to increase the amoiunt approved. When they called it in for the full amount of $19,000 it was only approved for $15,000.  Mr. Ecudero came to my door around 6PM to discuss it.  I let my friend talk to him and they set up a meeting for 8AM on January 11, 2018.

They both came into my house and would not wait for my friend to get here, he was only 5 minutes away.  But with in that 5 minutes Mr. Herbst became very threatening and told me that if I do attempt to cancel I would still have to be 50% liable and have to pay all their lawyer fees.  He mentioned that the building permit has already been pulled and everything is just waiting for them to finishe 3 other homes before mine. 

Mr. Herbst left with this comment, "You can get sued , your family will get sick from the black mold or you can have a beautiful roof and a lovely home, your decision!"  He also said that he would call me at 9PM after I got home from watching a elderly woman.  He never did call. Instead I received a message on my cell phone from an Attorney John Kelly, attorney with peoples product, which you signed in December, give me a call so we can get your installation set up.  Mr. Kelly is with Griffith and Kelly Law.  66 Cedar St. #208 Newington CT 06111  860-667-0855.  

I seriously do not like to be bullied, threatend or intimidated by Mr. Herbst.   I also understand the consumer has 60 days to change their mind if construction has not taken place.  I am beyond upset with this situation. My income has changed and the price of the siding is exhorbanent.  I also requested in my email (if they even received it) to let both gentlemen know that I do not want them to contact me any longer.

I have attempted to email them several times and it is not accepting my email.  I have tried to get the owner's email but the male receptionist said it was private and would not release that information.  I also checked with the City of Springfield MA and was told there was not a request for a permit or an issue of a permit for 56 Cuff Avenue.
