People's Trust Insurance Company I had the insurance on my home for one year. The company sent me a new declaration page with a much higher yrly payment. I called their office in Deerfield and told them I cannot pay that amount. Deerfield Beach Florida
My homeowner's insurance policy with Peoples Trust ended on 11/1/20. In October, their office sent me a renewal letter requesting a higher rate for the same insurance. I called their office in October and informed them I could not pay the increased amount of $600. more for yearly coverage. I explained I am a senior and receive $1300.00 each month. I could never make the payments they required. Their rep went over the charges but could not lower the insurance costs in order for me to afford it. That was it, I thought. It was cancelled, done!
I never heard from them on-line or by mail after that. When I received my November bank statement which covers transactions from 10/13 thru 11/10, I saw a $300. withddrawal from my account going to People's Trust. I called them immediately, and they claimed I still had home owner's insurance with them. They had taken out the first payment on the higher priced home insurance I had refused to take when I spoke to them in October. I informed them I did not accept the new insurance, I did not sign any paperwork stating I wanted the insurance. As I stated, I had never heard from them after that October phone call. They informed me I did had insurance with them and in order to cancel with them, I had to sign a cancellation request/policy release.
I told her I was never informed of this cancellation form I had to sign when I was on the phone with their rep in October, and that I would have signed it immediately had I known. In addition she said I had to have signed with another insurance company before People's Choice could release me from their policy. I told her I owned my home and did not have to buy insurance. There was not a bank involved. Also , I never received a new Insurance delaration page or insurance coverage information for the new policy they supposedly gave me. I never received an invoice for the first payment of the $300. Also a payment schedule is always given to when payments are due and how much each will be. I never heard from them!!! I believe I never had a policy to begin with following the one I was led to believe I cancelled on the phone call in October, 2020.
They have continued to bill me -- another payment of $135.00 was taken from my checking account on December 6. I called the bank to inform them of this fraud. Also, they told me now on my latest contact with them, I had to sign a Cancellation form from them to stop these payments. They e-mailed over and I signed it on 12/22. I feel they made me sign this cancellation form dated 12/22 so they can say I did not cancel until 12/22 and they were in their rights to take money from my bank account without a policy with them. I have really been swindeled by them and do not know how to get me money back. If anyone reading this can help I would appreciate it.
