PeopleSmart is a complete scam. The information that is delivered in a report can be easily found in a few clicks online. When I was searching for background info on a person, this site was a link that came up in the results. I read the agreement several times before agreeing to the 7 day free trial, but it is misleading because you buy the report for a 20% discount first (Special Offer with 7-Day FREE Trial

of 1-Year Unlimited Search Access. Includes unlimited people searches, email searches, phone lookups and available public records. Membership is free for 7 days then automatically billed for $35.40 per year.) Does that sound like I am paying for a report?

Once I received the report, I realized it contained nothing that I hadn't already found online doing a simple keyword search of a person's name. I immediately cancelled the free trial, and thought that was the end of it. Well, 3 days later a charge of $39.95 showed up on my card from PeopleSmart. At first I thought, well maybe they charged it to make sure the account information was correct before refunding it at the end of the trial, which was giving them the benefit of the doubt. When the charge was not refunded at the end of the 7 days, I called the phone number. The customer service rep was rude, and he was clearly not going to give a refund, stating that I bought the report.

I called my bank, and they called PeopleSmart, and they refunded the charge. Although they tried again to say I purchased the report. Bottom line: find information about people online for free, there is no reason to pay a company like PeopleSmart any money when the report they provide is public record. I guess I thought it would give me more in depth information, but it does not. Stay away...
