I've read through all the negative comments on the internet and I would have to agree that my buying process very unfortunate. VERY pushy and overbearing with the bullsh!t dealer add-on crap - Zaktec $297, $20 door edge guards for $320, nitrogen air in tires for $493!!!, pin stripes for $295, $45 wheel locks for $295, extra garbage warranty for $1800++. Their advertised price will NEVER be the actual purchase price. I was told the dealer add-ons are non-negotiable. But that is not what the ads say.

The numbers game with these people is extremely stressful. I just wanted a car for the advertised price, no more, no less. They do not listen to their customers!!!! Why the hell did I buy a car here?? I still feel so sick to my stomach thinking about my transaction with these people. Nothing but regret.

One thing is for sure, I will never buy a car here again. I am an auto insurance appraiser. I come in contact with many people that need another car after an accident. Guess what, Peoria Ford cannot ever be recommended. I bought another new car at Camelback Toyota. The experience was night/day. I sleep well at night thinking about that $40k transaction. My transaction with PF was for about $25000 with the "non-negotiable" add-ons, but the advertised price was a little less than $21663. Maybe I should send a complaint to the AZ Attorney General's Office.

My stupidity is that I signed and drove off... and now regrets everytime I see the documents.

RESOLVED!!

Good news. The manager at Peoria Ford, Pat Hickey, made things right. I'm a happy customer.  Thanks to the general manager, Pat Hickey, my disagreement with them was resolved on today. He appeared to genuinely care about my transaction with his company. No negative words were exchanged. He listened and came up with a solution. I can say that he did make it right. I'm happy with the car and happy with the outcome. Thank you.

I met with the dealer at 9am; results:

I personally met with their customer relations employee Ms. Woodhull and the sales manager, Mr. Hubler, this morning at 9am. I expressed my grievances in detail. In return, I was provided several analogies comparing other (unrelated) situations to this and why what they do is justified. It appears they believe their dishonest, deceptive advertising is acceptable and should be tolerated by the public. Just based on their argument alone (that I should pay for dealer add-ons, plus advertised price), I should have at least product to show what was purchased! I was charged $295 for pin stripes that didn't come with the car. I was charged another $295 for wheel locks that my car does not have!! I was charged $493 for Nitrogen in my tires, but the air we breathe is composed of 78% nitrogen! $320 for door edge guards that amount to nothing more than 4 skinny clear stickers.

The outcome: As their best offer, I was offered $600 in service department credit - oil changes, etc. I told the rep that this was of no value to me since I service my own vehicles. Today, Peoria Ford made very clear that the situation would not be made right. I will now continue my push to let many people know, including the AZ Attorney General.

Bait & switch sales tactics inflated the price of the car by several thousands of dollars. Dishonest advertising leads people in the showroom, but it is a given that the car will not be sold at that advertised price. Deceptive sales tactics are designed to distract confuse and mislead people.

It appears Peoria Ford violated the Arizona Consumer Fraud Act by using deceptive advertising. Peoria Ford refused to sell the car at the advertised price. I was told that I was required to purchase the dealer add-ons, even though the advertisement said “Final Price” of $21663.

Arizona law requires dealers to truthfully advertise the prices of motor vehicles they offer for sale. Advertising a discounted price that is not actually available amounts to consumer fraud.

Excellent plan to cancel the extended warranty.  If you cancel right away, the commission on the warranty will be removed from the F&I guy and the dealership.  Also, if you purchased a GAP policy through the dealership and you cancel that policy it will revoke the commission earned on it.  You can buy GAP at your insurance co for much less.  Last thing, if you financed the purchase through the dealer, you can refi through a credit union or bank and that will substantially reduce their commission off of you.  Make sure you remove GAP (if applicable) and the extended warranty before you refi so you get the lower loan amount.

I agree with Jim's post: getting up and walking out before signing is the best way to handle these slime ball tactics by the dealership. Sorry you are having to go through this, but it is a lesson learned for you and valuable information for the rest of us to stay away from PF.

Agreed....

Yes, I made the mistake of not walking away. I fell for the "bait and switch." I will pay for my mistake, no doubt.

But, I will share my experience with my vast network of colleages, friends and family and whomever else should know. I will sleep better knowing I could have helped someone else.

I am open to resolution with Peoria Ford. But, I doubt anything positive will happen. This has been a great learning experience. I will thank them for that. Good thing that bogus extended warranty is cancellable.

You forgot the completely bogus, add-on, phony fee of $400 to do paperwork! However, in your case, you can complain all you want but they got exactly what they wanted out of you because you didn't have the guts to walk away! The attorney general can't help you because YOU agreed to the scam! Bogus fees and false advertising is a mainstay in the Sleazy American Car Business. These slimeballs are choking on their own stench! Yes...spread the word! In the future, if you don't like the numbers, get up and walk out! Be one less "mooch" for slimeballs like these guys!
