Pep Boys Bait and switch. Told me one thing but when I left my car with them they added additional charges Murray Utah
I had my secretary's vehicle to Pep Boys because the tow truck driver recommended them. When I arrived at Pep Boys they told me that they could work on my vehcile that evening, if they did not get to it the would notify me and work on it first thing in the morning. I was concerned about the cost. They said that there is a $89.00 diagnostic fee, but if they did the work on the vehicle they would cut that fee in half. I asked if there were any other fees. They said no. Because the tow truck driver daid that Pep Boys does not increase the price on the parts they buy and they have a set fee for labor I thought they would be reasonable in cost. So I left my secretary's vehcile with them to work on. They did not get to it that evening and in fact they did not get to it the whole following next day. Very poor service. After I had called them several times I asked them what the cost was to do the repairs. They told me $64.06 for the part, $171.20 for the labor, $89 for the diagnostic charge and $21 shop fee. What?? $21 shop fee. What is that? They say they charge all customers $21 shop fee. They said nothing of a $21 shop fee. Had they told me there was a $21 shop fee on top of the $89 diagnostic fee I would have immediately had my car towed to the auto machanic near my office, Auto Pro. After being told of all these costs I called Auto Pro to have my car towed from Pep Boys to their place for them to do the repairs. The cost for the part was only $34, half what Pep Boys was going to charge me and the labor with Auto Pro was 1/3 the cost of Pep Boys. So I had Auto Pro do all the work and the cost was less than half, even with two towing charges added on. Pep Boys Lied to me about the cost of their service and they are double the cost of Auto Pro. They bait and switched me thinking that if I left my vehicle with them there was no way I was going to pay another tow bill to have it towed off their property. They were wrong!
