While traveling in Atlanta my car cut off so I took it to the Pep Boys in Kennesaw, GA and they looked it, diagnosed it and found the problem which was a PVC valve assembly. They could not get one from a local dealer and told me it would be the next day before they could get one. Since I was out of town they were nice enough to rig the valve to work long enough for me to get back to Macon, GA. They only charged me for the diagnosis which was $98.00. They gave me an estimate to fix the assembly and the diagnosis which was $121.00 for the whole fix.

The next day I took my car to the Macon Pep Boys. When I took it in I told them that the day before I had taken it to the other Pep Boys and they diagnosed the problem and I just needed it ordered and fixed. They were able to get the assembly that day and had the car fixed in less than 5 hours. I went in to pay and I was charged $171.00 for the fix.

I explained to them that I had already diagnosed the problem and that all I needed was the item purchased and replaced. They told me that it was too late and I had to pay the full amount or I could not get my car back. I also explained that the full fix price in Kennesaw was $121.00 and they told me that the parts cost more from the dealer they ordered the part from. I had no choice so I paid them.

Funny thing is, a week later the car cut off again when I was 3 hours from home and had to call a tow truck to fix the PVC Valve which needed a clamp that they never put back on. What a bunch of crooks.

P.S. Cudos to the Kennesaw Pep Boys. They are not crooks.
